How do I get DVC goodies?

So...we are waiting for our closing paperwork via resale and wondering....I want a beach bag, lanyards, etc. that have DVC on them.
I like free goodies. Where do people get this stuff from or where can you buy it...besides eBay?

Beach bag I got when we purchased direct from Disney.

Lanyards / hats we got when we did the DVC presentation on the Disney Wonder.

I think that's all the DVC goodies we have- except for a magnet or two purchased at the resort.

Easiest place is the Welcome Home Wednesdays gatherings at the BoardWalk or the DVC presentations on a Disney Cruise. All attendees usually get something small like a DVC baseball cap or a window sticker. Disney Cruise Line gives all members a package in their stateroom with things like lanyards, plastic pen, DVC magnets on stateroom doors.

The larger items (beach bags, towels, etc.) are given away via random drawing at the events noted above. You need to be lucky more than anything.

Some DVC merchandise is available for sale in resort gift shops.

Well we are doing an Alaskan cruise in August 2011 so maybe I will get goodies then. I would like to have three lanyards for our pins/trading.

When we checked into VGC, we received 2 DVC member lanyards.

Our original purchase, we received our tote. When we added on, we received some of the new DVC hats. My oldest DD uses the DVC portfolio we received at one of the DVC events.

I got all the stuff from my guide on Disney Wonder when I signed my contract. He gave me a beach bag for the paperwork and then looked at me and said "You're a Disney fan, aren't you?" Of course I said yes and then he put all the different stuff he had into the bag. We got hats, pens, light wands, magnets, lanyards and some other small stuff.

I like the bag and the hats most.

All of the "free" goodies are provided by the DVD marketing Department. Any event sponsored by them will have goodies.

Your guide may be a good source. I asked our guide for hats and he said how many and sent them to me. I asked for a line art drawing of our resort and he located one and sent it to me. I offered to pay for these items, but he said no. I have also purchased items from ebay.

The tote bag isn't really "free". DH likes to call it the 16k tote bag. I love it though. It always comes on all trip to hold misc items. Last trip we went to the open house at BLT and got a cheapy tote bag, lanyards, pens and a dvc portfolio. DS love the portfolio.

Since the OP is purchasing resale, he will not get the "16K beach bag" (lol).

That would have gone to the original contract purchaser (seller now). Like others have said you can pickup some nice DVC merchandise at many of the DVC resorts, if not all.

We've gotten 2 of the big beach bag zippered totes, 2 gym bag fold down style bags, 2 travel mugs, some hats, and a couple other random items. Got the first tote with our first purchase and everything else from our AKV purchase at the Doorway to Dreams location. They filled my tote up with all sorts of stuff! LOL

The gym bags come in very handy for extra stuff when on vacation since I can keep them all folded up on the way down.

Hmm, maybe I should call my guide and ask about the lanyards?

Our first purchase was resale. The second was direct. We didnt get any goodies. We did get some at Welcome Home Wednesdays and the Merry Mixer. The rest came from good old Ebay.

No more free tote bags when you buy direct or add-on, or at least not sent to us and we became members in April and added-on in May. We did get a reusable shopping-type bag and portfolio when we went to the Doorway to Dreams event. Maybe some lanyards might be useful, but I personally don't need too many extra things - can only wear one hat at a time and use so many bags at a time!

Hubby bought me a DVC sweatshirt while on vaca at SSSR last year as a surprise birthday gift and had it shipped home. What a nice surprise! They had some things for sale at the resort, which was nice. Hubby told our sales agent (we visited while we were there) that it would be nice if they sold polo shirts, etc., since he really likes to tout the DVC horn whenever he can! Maybe some day they'll get the picture
