My dh's sister is getting married on May 9th at Disney. She has blocked rooms at GF (we can't afford) CS and ASMu. I really want to stay at CS because of the pool, playground, and beaches. My 2yo dd would have such a blast there simply sitting in the sand and playing. I really don't want to stay at AS because I just didn't like the feel of it the last time we were there. I just wasn't comfortable. I thought that CS had a much more laid back feeling. The rate difference is $89 vs. $130 plus tax ... This is supposed to be a discounted rate for the wedding guests.

I need some help in convincing him to spend the extra money to stay at CS. It is a total difference of $230. I too think that he would be much happier staying there.

HELP ME if you can!

Thanks!

Maciec, if the price difference won't hurt you financially, then consider staying at the resort that has the amenities that you think your family would enjoy the most. However, if you could put that money to better use elsewhere, then go with the value resort and don't think twice.

Do you think you could sit your DH down in front of the computer as you showed him your fellow Dis'ers' photos of the two resorts in question? Then you could point out the differences between the resorts and that might help your DH agree with your choice. Don't forget that Dreams Unlimited Travel (the owners of the Dis) has streaming video clips of each of the WDW resorts. I really enjoy viewing those video clips any time that I am trying to decide what resort I want to stay in for my upcoming vacation. Click here to go to Dreams Unlimited's "resorts" webpage.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a magical vacation.

For the last two years there have been discount codes offered for stays between 4/21 and 5/23 and 6/23. With the code, you may be able to get CS for 89.00 or a little more (just don't let your hubby know that the ASMu rate will also be cheaper with a code discount.;)). Actually, it was just around this time last year that the code came out. Good luck!! ~:D~

And remember, if you are a nurse, teacher or govt worker, you can get Swan/Dolphin for $129/night-it has the sand beach and I believe a babysitting club.

Maciec,

I went last May during the same time period you are going and the moderates were $94 with a code from Mousesavers. You may be able to stay at CS for just about the same amount of money.

The discount you're being offered for CS is 10%. As others have said, last year & the year before there were better discounts. But before planning on that, check with his sister, because I know from reading some of the wedding posts that their are strange requirements about the # of guests & all that.

I can't help you convince him, but if there are events planned for the guests, you won't have much time to relax & enjoy the resort anyway, so don't worry about it! Another thing I would consider is where other close family members are staying. Your 2 year old might enjoy their company in the down time more than anything else. Well, at least that's how my 2 yo is, LOL! He adores his aunts & cousins & doesn't care what he's doing as long as they're around. :)

Good luck with your decision!

I think that I can convince him to stay at CS. I have signed up to get the Mousesavers newsletter when there are changes to the site so I am hoping I will know right away when the discounts come out. After my sil signs the contract with Disney for the wedding they send out a letter to the guests asking which resort they want to stay at and the prices. I am thinking that with a code I can get a better rate than $130 a night. Plus a lot of family are going to stay at CS.

I did check into the Sawn/Dolphin for the gov't rate, but they were sold out of the discounted rooms. I'd love to stay there!

I know that this was a silly post, but thanks for the replies!

Nothing silly about trying to get the best value for your dollar!! ~:p~

Maciec,

I just clicked through the Dreams Unlimited site and I got May 9-14 (I don't know your dates) at the Swan for the gov't rate. You need to contact Dreams Unlimited (ask for Bob) or do like I did on the website-I AM showing availability:D

Click on the Dreams Unlimited logo on the Pete Werner site, then WDW on the left, then Orlando Area hotels-for some reason the discounts for the Swan and Dolphin show up here.

Good luck!

Maciec,

I was able to get it for May 7-14 also (Swan)-duh, have to allow you some travel time! Try it, you'll see!

How you can get him to change his mind is, to go without him. You could probable save enough to stay at the GF.

My dh wanted to drive for our next trip. 20 hours with 3 kids, I don't think so. I told him to go ahead, we would be waiting there for him when he arrived. We just booked a flight 3 days ago:) Have a great trip!

Although we have stayed at CS before I have forgotten a lot of things about it. Thanks Buzz for the pictures to show to DH. I think I am half way there to winning the battle. Every little bit helps. You are the first person who has shown me pictures of the playground. I have been looking everywhere for them. I am praying that Disney comes out with some discounted rates before our trip that will get me close the the discounted rate that Disney is offering my SIL for the wedding guests. From what I have seen from previous posts and mousesavers previous discount histories I have a good chance. Thanks everyone for your support!

Also, as for the Swan/Dolphin gov't rate I went directly through their websites and they said that there was no availabilty for the discounted rate. Plenty for non-discounted. I wonder why the discrepancy?

Maciec-

I think that each group, the hotel itself and Dreams Unlimited, has a block of rooms to sell. Sounds like your heart is set on CS, though.

Remember that the Swan & Dolphin aren't Disney owned, and probably wouldn't count toward the total number of rooms required for the wedding party. Ren

I've heard that Dreams can get people discounted S/D rooms even when their own website doesn't show availability. But, if a lot of your family is going to be at CS, that's probably better than S/D anyway.

Does anyone know if code rate bookings count toward the room minimums for weddings? I wouldn't think so, but who knows? If you get CS for $89, don't tell the other guests!! :)

If you can spare $230 and pay the difference, maybe your husband will let you guys stay there and let him know how much you would love to stay at that beautiful resort and that your family will really enjoy the stay there.

One time I just told my (late) husband that I was willing to pay the difference from off-sight to staying at ASMo and so it worked out well...he ended up paying the difference himself...awww...wasn't he sweet!!

I just wanted to say to *Fantasia* that it's GREAT to see you back on the boards!!! At least this is the first time I've seen you. I've been thinking about you and your family since your tragic loss. I'm glad to see that you're going back to WDW!!!! I hope you have a WONDERFUL trip!!!
