I have drove down to Disney but next year, we plan on flying. So how is the best way to get all your stuff home? (souvenirs, purchases, etc.) And if you mail your stuff back home, how much does it usually cost? ALso I have NEVER flown before, so I just don't see how I can get all my stuff packed in the limited amount of luggage you can take on a plane on the flight back home. I plan to only take "carry on" bags, I'm scared my luggage will get lost.

What I did on our last trip was pack a suitcase with 6 pks of juice (double bagged them with gallon size ziploc bags incase of spills), granola bars, water, etc. That way we had snacks through the day and had an extra suitcase to put what we bought.

your luggage will be fine.. bring an extra bag or suitcase for your stuff!

Ditto!

And you are very limited in size for your carry-on. I don't see how you could possibly pack everything you need for a Disney trip into 1 carry-on. Remember that each person only gets 1 quart size bag for their liquids. So this will limit how much shampoo/mouthwash/bodywash you can pack. Just divide up your clothes between your 2 checked bags. Some socks in each bag, some shorts in each bag. That way if one does happen to get lost (which it most likely won't) you still have clothes to get you thru your trip.

If you must limit yourself to just your carryon then plan to do laundry then you can pack half the amount. I can't imagine how you can pack for Disney in just a carryon unless your not going that long. I need a carryon just for my souveniers:) .

You realize that with carry on you get one 22" and one personal item. You or your travel companion must be able to lift your suitcase into the overhead. Assume no one else will help you.

Considering the tone of this post I am concerned you aren't going to make it. Airlines lose luggage a lot less then you hear. On the return, the Disney bag of purchases is not considered a third carry on. It's still two LOL! I would just check. I don't check because I travel on business and I generally go straight to meetings which means I don't always have time to wait on the baggage....

Also, you will be subject to the liquid ban. One baggie per passenger NOTHING over 3 oz.

I can travel carry on. I however do it all the time and even for me it's harder for Disney! I have gone with the Owners Locker folks to make it possible going forward. I get to leave my Disney stuff in Orlando!

My DH and DS just returned from a week in Disney as DH was on a business convention and they started out with a carryon but decided against it just because they knew they were buying souveniers for me!! We were just there in August but I wanted all the MNSSHP and Food and Wine souveniers and it was a good decision because DS must have brought home about 10 lbs. of candy from the halloween party:woohoo:

I'll be going directly on the Disney Cruise after my stay. Are there any services that will send your purchases home via ground/air delivery? I know we'll each already have 2 suitcase and carry-on, so I really need another alternative being I'll make purchases at The World as well as on DCL.

You opt to leave your least favorite child there and pick them up on the next trip.:goodvibes

We shipped lots of stuff home on our last trip. My son wanted one of those huge long guns from the pirates ride and there was no way it would fit in our checked luggage. The cost depends on how much you spend but I think it was around $15 to ship a $100 order.

Thanks for that relief! Now did you make those shipping arrangements at your hotel or at the park? I'm assuming at your hotel since you mentioned you had several items.

We bought a Disney bag at DTD and used it for any of our souvenirs. It's a fairly large duffle bag that has really come in handy.

And relax about your luggage. It won't get lost. If it makes you feel better, pack a change of clothes and some incidentals in your carry on. But in all the times I've flown, my luggage has never been lost.

Hmm, I better knock on wood.

That's one reason why we never fly...we recently bought a Denali (the "long" one) because we come home with sooooo many souvenirs, that my Chrysler Town & Country couldn't hold them all with my family of 4!

As long as you are not flying US Airways through Philadelphia your luggage should be fine. You could always pack a small suitcase inside a larger one so you will have an extra suitcase to carry your purchases home.

Take less stuff. We did laundry this year for the first time and it was great. We will always take 1/2 of the clothes now. Great plan. Especially if you are limited to your bags. With small children, we have to get a lot of airline tickets, but they dont need 2 bags each so we usually check 3-5 bags or so, so an extra one coming home isnt bad at all.

So, pack an an extra duffle bag that can either be folded up or fill it with items that will not need to come home. We packed a duffle bag with juice boxes, diapers etc...knowing they would be gone by the end of the week.

Also, with your purchases in the stores, they will ship them home for you. We have been buying Disney christmas village type pieces from the Christmas store at DTD and they just wrap them up and ship them. Same thing from the resort...my parents bought my DD's the castle playset from the gift shop at POR and had it shipped to us to hold til Christmas. I cant remember how much it was, but shipping wasnt really more than it would have been anywhere else. I think they came UPS, but now I cant remember.

Hope that helps...and makes sense!

Wow ~ what a wonderful idea! :goodvibes

It is my understanding that the concierge at your resort can mail items home for you at a cost. I am calling AKV today to be certain that this process is available, b/c we are flying for the first time this Dec. as well.

That is exactly what I do:thumbsup2 I have my checked bag and inside that is my carryon and then that carryon becomes full at the end of the trip. There are 4 of us and we are stay for 2 weeks so what I do is pack half the amount of clothes and then do laundry. I know....I hate having to do laundry while in Disney but it's worth it not to have to pay extra for the extra luggage and I sure don't want to wash all of it upon our return either:scared1:

We did it right at the pirate store upon checking out-- 2 pirate: boys equals lots of pirate stuff :rotfl2: .
