How do I get a mildew smell out

of my washer? My daughter did her laundry the other day and apparently she forgot the memo to move them to the dryer. Even after re-washing the washing machine smells musty and mildew. Im running a cycle of baking soda and white vinegar through now. Anymore tips in case that dont work?

Vinegar ... If I Forget towels or anything I just run them through again with Vinegar and no detergent.

Another vote for vinegar.

I'm not sure you should mix baking soda and vinegar ... isn't that what makes the volcanos we used to make in elementary school?

I use white vinegar. I also use it on clothes that people leave in the washer. Takes the gross smell right out.

If the vinegar doesn't work, maybe run through with no clothes, hot water and a little soap and a lot of bleach?

I don't know how to do it. That's just what I'd try.

I've done this before, and it worked. Nothing like leaving a load of towels in the washer for 2 or 3 hot summer days. Phew!

Do a load of whites with bleach.

I actually asked a similar question on another board recently and had lots of suggestions for vinegar or bleach. I tried the vinegar twice and it didn't take the smell completely out. I tried bleach and it worked a lot better.

thanks for all the replies...the vinegar and baking soda didnt do it, so im running another load with soap and vinegar...fingers crossed. if this doesnt get it ill bleach it.

Another vote for bleach, no clothes, on the hottest cycle.



It's easy and cheap!

I have bought some sort of tablet, maybe it was called Fresh. It was a waste of money.
