How Do I Get A 'Be Our Guest' Lunch FastPass+???

Hello there! Now I know that this has probably been asked a thousand times but I simply want to know the best way to go about getting a 'Be Our Guest' lunch FastPass+ for my family of four when we go to Disney World 8/23 - 9/1? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

From what I understand for guest staying onsite you will recieve a notification (email I think) and you schedule it with the link provided. I am not sure the time frame though...
