Got back from WDW last night and some of the t-shirts I made were peeling a little around the edges so I tried to re-iron them (I only did this with 3 in case it didn't work I wouldn't ruin them all) and then just put them in the washing machine. Well, I just checked them before throwing them in the dryer & things are not looking good. They are peeling off & look aweful!! What did I do wrong & how do I fix the other ones?? Please help!!!

I'm not sure Hon ...just wanted to lend an ear ,,
I've heard others say that they have tried using parchment paper,do not add hot iron directly onto the image,,have a barrier between,,I'm even wondering if a piece of brown paper bag would work as a barrier,,when ironing.

Hopefully someone with a bit more experience will post,,I do know that I've had this happen once when the dryer temp was too hot,,

So I talked to my mom - practically in tears!!! - and she suggested putting an old t-shirt or something over it & using steam. I know you are NOT supposed to use any steam, but after I washed & dried them they looked BAD so I thought what's the difference. Well, I tried it & I have them in the washer now so we'll see, but I have to say I think it may have worked?!?! I'll let you all know for sure so maybe if someone else has this problem..........

P.S. We got TONS of compliments on our shirts!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

Looked up on google search

"Most common cause of cracking after washing is that during initial application of transfer not enough "pressure" was applied when ironing".

"If you do not use enough pressure when ironing the transfer will not throughly melt into the fabric."

" Initially the image will look good after transfer but will crack after first wash"

This is from Avery and HP(Hewitt Packard)

I know it doesn't help now but maybe in the future.

I wish I could tell you how to fix them. I hope you find some way but I have personally not been able to salvage anything after the cracking has started.

Know this though, in my experience, it has more to do with the quality of the transfer and not really what you did or didn't do. I have used more brands of transfers than I can remember and have done them all the same. Some were absolutely horrible and seemed to shread after the very first wash.

This won't solve your problem, but for any future shirts - check out the iron transfer section on my webpage. (link below)

Thanks! It's not that they are cracking, they are peeling off - as my son put it "look mom, it's just a sticker" as he grabbed a corner & started pulling!! I think you guys are right tho - I probably didn't apply enough pressure! I did do the steam thing to 3 and that seemed to get them to stick better, but the disign looks aweful. It's like the color is chipping off so you see the white background. GRR! I'm full of problems - guess I need to go back to Disney so I can make more shirts!! hehehehe! All that work, all that time I put into them & they looked sooooo great!! HOW FRUSTRATING!!!! *sniff sniff*
