How do I find out what type of plane we are flying in using SWA?

Just curious since the seating is first come. Does anyone know what types of planes they fly, or how I can look up my flight number and find out?

You should be able to find that info on their web site. I don't fly SWA, but they used to only fly 737's. Don't know if that is still true.

We have flown SW several times from Hartford, CT to Orlando and have always had a 737---three seats across, aisle, and three more seats across.

I'm looking into booking SW for our trip, however my friend has been spoiled by jetblue's big seats and video screens for every seat. Would she be happy with an 8yo and 12yo on SW?

(My kids take what they can get and just be happy we're off to Disney!)

We used to always fly SW. Now we fly Jet BLue but this only because we originally couldn't get fares on SW and tried Jet Blue now we seem to always have credit with them currently we have two free vouchers with them from a promotion we did last Feb. out of Boston .
seats are three and three on SW

If you have young children seating will not be to much of a problem for you because you can board in the A group.
OUr daughter is now to old to be able to get early boarding so that is also why I LOVE jet blue because we get assigned seats.

Bottom line I would fly with whoever you get the best price on.

Boarding in the A group is not based on having young children. It is based on who checks in first. People with kids under four may get to pre-board prior to As, but an 8 and 12 year old will not qualify for that.

I watched the SWA flights come and go from our room at the MCO Hyatt. They seemed to be flying a lot of the smaller 737's (120-ish seat variety).

I am aware of the fact the the ages 8 and 12 will not get her into pre boarding . Maybe I read the post wrong I thought they were travelling as two familes and she did not state the age of her children that is why I said if you have young children you should be ok

just another reason why I prefer assigned seating, then you don't have to worry about seating arrangements.

Southwest flies 3 different types of 737's.

194 737-300 seats 137
25 737-500 seats 122
210 737-700 seats 137

As an earlier poster stated, all of their planes are 3 seats-aisle-3 seats.

One of those plane configurations (don't remember which) has two rows of seats that face the back of the plane instead of actual bulkhead seating. Great if you're in the A group and are traveling with a number of people,

If I am not mistaken, SWA is retrofitting those planes and are eliminating the seats that face backwards.

Facing backwards just sounds bad to me!! It reminds me of what I try to avoid since I get car sick.
