How do I find out about construction on I 75?

I did a search but it was a lot of info that I couldn't relate to (counties and detours). Is there any site like Mapquest that shows where the delays are? I'm driving down from Atlanta in a few weeks and want to avoid whatever delays I can!

I don't know about any websites, but the 2006 Rand-McNally road atlas shows the major construction areas. If it's any consolation, we just returned from FL on Friday via I-75 and didn't encounter any construction delays of any consequence.

we are going to attempt to drive to FL this August for a veterns convention in Tampa with my parents. How long did it take you? did you stop over night? Where? any other helpful driving hints would be appreciated.

For anyone driving through KY-there is construction south of exit 159 but 2 lanes are open-a tap of the brakes at worst.

There is intermittent construction between exits 113 and 108 in the Lexington area-they often shut this from 3 lanes to 1 during weekdays from 9 AM to 3 PM. Watch for signs-I have seen huge backups but this closure does not occur often.

All of the states have websites for there department of transportations. They typically list all road construction with the dates that it is scheduled to begin and finish and most often include interstate maps showing the construction zones.

They're also widening to 3 lanes each way in many of these same spots in southern Kentucky. Fortunately, it's quite rural in most of the spots in southern Kentucky, so on some of the 1 or 2-lane portions it's not like you'll hit a big traffic jam.

Most states have some kind of 5-1-1 service you can dial, which will give you major construction information along major roads. I don't know if Georgia and Florida have this service. Kentucky has it and it can be pretty useful.

I checked the Fla DOT and it was set up in a way that only locals would understand. All I need to know if the stretch of road I'm driving will be affected and they went on and on about counties and detours, NONE of which I'm familiar with.

We did stop overnight in Forsyth, GA. I keep a journal of how long it takes us through each state (I'm a compulsive planner and tend to get bored in the car ). After deductingthe time for an hour-long sit-down meal and the stop overnight I figure it's about 18 hours to Tampa from our house. We live about 25 minutes west of Flint, MI.
