my DH's bright yellow shorts?

I told him he'd never wear them and he hasn't. Now, he's telling me he'll wear them if I fade them.

Does RIT dye make a fading product? Do I use bleach that's already diluted?

I'm in a quandry.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. It's 100% cotton.

Wash them with new blue jeans and the blue from the wash water will dull the yellow.

I know this is a silly question, but are you sure you are not using a "color" safe detergent?

You could try leaving them in the sun for a few days.
My clothes always fade if they get too much sun.

No, this just makes them look dingy. Don't ask me how I know.

Use some diluted bleach, cold water, and soak for several minutes. The longer you soak, the lighter it gets, so keep an eye on it. Remember it will be darker as it is wet. Let it dry. Check the color. You can also re-soak to get it lighter.

Once it's the right color, wash it with some detergent to get rid of all the bleach.
