How do I eat with a baby?

We are not using an infant carrier in Disney since it will be way too hot to keep her in it plus we don't want to carry it on and off the buses. We will use our stroller in the restaurants that don't have the infant high chairs. This is what we did for DS when he was too young for a high chair, and the CM's were great about allowing the stroller inside. Unless we are feeding her, we don't generally hold her while we are eating in restaurants. Have a great trip!:goodvibes

When we walked up to the Crystal palace with our 3 month old asleep in a stroller, the hostess insisted that we just bring it in to let her stay asleep :) Otherwise, we always just held babies too small to sit in a high chair. I remember at Chef Mickey's that they have seats that look like infant carseats on wheels that they brought to our table when our oldest was 4 months.

They will let you bring in the stroller!

Last year, we brought our 5 month old twins to WDW and brought their double, side-by-side stroller to every restaurant! Even CRT!

Some restaurants said we could only bring the stroller in if they were sleeping but when I told them the babies couldn't sit up in a high chair, they allowed the stroller. It wasn't a big deal and took up less space than two high chairs at the table! Half the time, they were sleeping!

The infant seat/car seat or a carrier system ( I prefer slings for meals).

I have seen some disney restaurants permit strollers for very young babies who are too little for high chairs. They would just park the stroller where a high chair would typically go.

I would imagine that the parents just politely asked and were permitted. Crystal Palace was one specific place where I have seen this.

For the record WDW restaurants have infant seats. You need to ask for one when you make your ADR>

Here's a picture of my then 3 month old at Garden Grill in 2007. Surprised not more people know about them.

It surpries me that CR doesn't offer them. I mean--they ask the ages of all the kids when you book, even the under threes. I had never heard of them.

gladstoneganderfan You can use a roll of papertowels to prop the baby up(put it behind them). It's soft, and it holds them up straight. That's what we did in the restaurant I worked at if the baby was too young to sit up on their own.

The problem with a baby not being able to sit up isn't just falling backward---it is falling forward and "the slouch" where it looks like they are collapsing into their own body.

I didn't "prop" my children until they were already sitting on their own for any length of time but tire out. In my home--4/5 month olds--weren't strong enough for a prop of any kind and this would have been unsafe.

Holding with one hand, eat with other or sling. At 4.5 months unless your baby is a larger one ( my DS #1 was a fast grower so the sling was out at 4.5 but he was sitting up on his own too whereas my twins were only 10 lbs at 4.5 months and not sitting up and were perfect in slings still )
A sling would allow you to have both hands and allow the baby to sleep and be cozy instead of being proped in a highchair or sitting in a stroller that either is going to get bumped or is seeing the underside of the table.
