Hi all!

My mom is getting my girls Baby Alive for Christmas. :santa: And of course they want the Learns to Potty (aka: flush your $$ down the drain) one!

I already purchased the one on Amazon. (Thanks for the heads up Dissers!):thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

But I know it doesn't come with much food or many diapers. Is there an alternative for the food besides the real deal stuff from Baby Alive?? Does she fit in premie (sp?) diapers or do I really need the BA ones?
:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Thanks in advance! My mom actually asked me all these questions, and I didn't know. But I told her,"I know who to ask though!!" :goodvibes

When my oldest DD had a doll that went potty, I found it much cheaper to by wither newborn or preemie diapers at the grocery store. Especially when I had coupons. I have all the leftover diapers from boys stored away so that when my younger DD (4) gets her potty doll this Christmas we already have a bunch of diapers.

Just bought 2 myself :woohoo: and my plan is to do preemie diapers (cheaper and from the reviews I've read they will work much better. The BA diapers are like $1 a piece and leak!), and then lots of water for our Baby Alive. :lmao: Actually - I found the juice and food pretty cheap at Target (at least a LOT cheaper than on Amazon).

We bought some Huggies preemie size. Food and juice at Wal-Mart. Honestly, your kids will probably lose interest in feeding her in a short while, so it won't be too expensive.

My DD got Baby Alive for Christmas last year. I found it cheaper and much easier to use the diapers from Target, premie/newborn size. I then had to give my DD a limit of 5 per day at first. We got her a paci, this works well instead of a drink. Oh and the days she wanted to feed her without food, we found that using her spoon works as well, the magnet in the spoon is what triggers her to "eat" My DD (6) still carries her around and sleeps with her every night, however she is not as interested in feeding her anymore. Good Luck, these dolls are great, oh and don't wipe her face with a washcloth, make sure it is non-abrasive as the paint comes off her lips. HTH!

If you don't plan on letting her have the food/water all the time (which my 4 year old knew nothing about Baby Alive doing...lol :rotfl: ) I purchased some cloth diapers off of ebay. She just liked to take them on and off, but the sticky doesn't last long at all. She has moved onto other babies and the diapers have traveled with them.

I bought the cheapest preemie diapers I could find. Baby Alive arrived last Christmas. I think she is going to be sent away soon. Our DD doesn't play with her. The food does not all come out no matter what you do and her finger broke off. :confused3 The food is pretty cheap though so I wouldn't even try to find an alternative. Keep in mind that you will have to be vigilant with the care of these dolls. They are definetly not made like they used to be.

Thanks so much for the responses everyone!! I knew I could rely on my peeps on the Dis!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I'll tell mom to get some premie diapers and maybe one more pack of food and we will see what the interest level is after that.

Also, thanks for the tip about the paint coming off the face!! I never would have thought of that.

We got DD wet and wiggles b/c we didn't want a poopin' doll. She said she'd be okay with any of the BAs. At 18.99 though, I almost got it. The reviews said what a pain in the tush the doll is - :lmao: I think I'll stick with the WW one b/c I don't want to clean up after a doll when I have a real baby in diapers!
