How do I do a wait list when I need 1x use points?

I have 2 nights at the poly. And a 3rd night at Saratoga.

I have 2 points left to use. Can’t borrow.

I want to create a wait list to move from Saratoga to poly for the 3rd night. But have no points to borrow. Will need to purchase 10 1x use points.

Not sure how to do this. Will the full fill
My wait list and call me to buy?

You call MS to book a reservation (a night in a studio, etc. that you don't intend to keep) and buy 10 OTU points. After you get off the phone, you cancel the reservation. Just keep the holding points rule in mind (book something out in the future - past 31 days)

Make the waitlist then call MS. They can add notes on a waitlist that are complicated like this, and it is managed by a person.

They will call if they have issues filling a waitlist, I missed a call once boo, and they just canceled my waitlist. So maybe give a couple other numbers to call so they don't just cancel it.

It works different in you need to buy OTU points…they just won’t fill if you don’t have points to be used, even with a note.

That is why people book a fake reservation and buy, then cancel so the points are there to be used by a waitlist.

So you have to want that last night enough to take a chance of getting stuck with OTU points you can't use if the waitlist doesn't work. OTU points expire at the end of your use year.

No, I don't see why they couldn't buy OTU on a wait list. I have done some very complicated instructions with multiple contracts and kinds of points on waitlist. You could at least leave a note to call you before they cancel it.

Is this reservation within the 7 month window?

If so, I feel like you could call member services and ask to purchase 10 OTU points for your SSR night. When you put in the waitlist for PVB, select for it to replace the SSR reservation. It should use the points (including the 10 OTU points) already part of your SSR reservation, and use up the additional points needed from your regular membership.

I haven't done it, so not sure if that works in real life, but in theory I feel like it makes sense!

Success..... The date I needed opened up on the site. Called member services. I ended up needing to buy 6 points. Took about 20 minutes start to finish.
