How do I buy points to transfer... what are the considerations?

Under the rent/transfer points section, I see that everyone quotes their home resort, use year, amount of points and price per point available. Do I have to have the same home resort & use year (as the seller) to transfer those points into my account?

Can you actually transfer in points from a home resort that is not your own, and if so, what are the booking rules applicable to those points? For instance, does an 11 month early-booking window apply to the resort that they were BOUGHT FROM, or can use use them at your own home resort (at the 11 month booking date)?

Since I will likely be buying a small contract (150-170 point range), I thought it would be great if I could buy extra points if I ever wanted a longer stay, or to get a larger unit.

Is there a thread that explains all this that you could point me to, or let me know how this applies?

Transferred points are supposed to retain their original USe Year and Home Resort status. If you need points to make a reservation 11 months in advance, it would be wise to find points from that resort or you may be disappointed when trying to make the reservation.

Transferred points may be banked into the following Use Year and some have reported that they were then transformed into the same Home Resort status as the contract into which they were transferred.

Banked/Borrowed points cannot be transferred so you will need to find someone with current points available.

Good luck! :)

Also, you are limited to one transfer in or out a year. And, according to the Public Offering Statement, there is not supposed to be any compensation for transferred points.

Because there is only one transfer allowed per year, it may be difficult to attempt to transfer only a few points into your account because that would mean the "seller" would not be able to transfer any more points for a year.
