I am considering getting the Disney visa card to book FD today. Assuming I can get instant approval for it, how do I book? Is there a link to be able to book online or do I have to call?
I'd rather book online so I can compare prices at my leisure. :surfweb:
Thanks!

you have to have your Visa in hand in order to book. They require your actual credit card number which you will not get with instant approval. The good news is you can book this same deal on May 2 without having a Disney Visa. Good luck!

Links to the cc offer also say this:

******, thank you for your interest in the Disney Rewards Visa Card.

When instantly approved, Guests can use their new Disney Rewards Visa Card immediately to book Disney vacation packages and purchase Disney theme park tickets online.

Does this mean I can't use it by phone?

someone tried to do this for THIS promotion and they would not allow them to book without the card. They were told the card would take two to three weeks to arrive by mail which is way after the opening to the general public. Of course, the person that told that poster this info could have been wrong. It wouldn't be the first time conflicting info was passed by Disney. My suggestion though is that you shouldn't get a credit card just to book early. That's not great on your credit. Disney is usually slow to put their deals online, so if you call them first thing in the morning on May 2 you should get free dining without a problem. Good luck!

We have had a Disney Visa for years, and really, it's not that great of a card. If you don't need another credit card, I wouldn't get this one just to book a discount that is going to open to the general public in less than 48 hours.

But I can't call then. I have to be at work in Philly by 7:45am and it's busy as soon as I walk in the door. It's a hospital and no time to talk on the phone.
What are the odds anything is left by 5pm?

There will still be availability after 5pm. It would be quite the record if everything sold out the first day of free dining availability.

I agree with a PP - I HATE my Disney Visa card. The perks aren't that great, it's hard to earn Disney Reward Dollars, and the interest rate is the highest one on all the credit cards I have and I have good credit.

If you get approved instantly, you might be able to call the Disney Visa phone number to get your card number. I'm not sure. As far as booking the offer online, I don't know about that either as I have always called. I don't like Disney's setup for booking packages online because I can never find a break down that shows the discount I've chosen has been applied. Since this is a special thing for Disney Visa cardholders, I don't even know if it is on the web site.

Nope! My mom did it the day the deal came out. We were told by a CM on the phone to get the card and then call back to book. Like a PP said, the website makes it sound like you can use it immediately. When my mom then called to get the card number the representative was very rude and told her she'd have to waith 2-3 weeks for the card. So I'll be calling on Mon morning bright and early. While dissapointed, my mom said that it's nice to have anyway. She'll get a $25 Disney giftcard on first use, there's the free 5x7 pic at Epcot, 10% off on purchases over $50 in the gift shops and being able to use it for any other DV offers in the future. They have such good credit, I doubt it matters for them.

fwiw, if you cruise on DCL, booking with this card gives cruisers $50 onboard spending credit which is in addition to the credits offered by DCL for rebooking onboard and credits that my TA offers.
I know I can't apply it to cruises already booked but still worth it for future use. Just what I have booked now would have given us $300 total extra in spending $ with no annual fee. :thumbsup2

Yes, I can see how they can't give out full account #s by phone. That would be crazy.
The kicker is that if I make a mock res online, by default it makes the Disney visa card the payment method & shows the last 4 digits of my acct # and the exp date so online booking would be easy. Oh well. At least I'll have it for future perks.

I had assumed that they'd send her an email but she didn't get that. I do understand why they can't five it over the phone or by email but at the same time, things on the site are misleading. I wonder if because it shows online if the reservation agents would have the card on file the same way. You could call or I suppose you could rebook and then cancel your other ressie. But other than that I guess we wait for Monday. I'm not too worried. Also, if the DV and the GP discount are different codes, it's possible that once the DV arrives you could have different options than were available with the GP code, ie: other resorts or room categories. So we'll just have to see!

I called Disney to see if they had access to cards stored in my Disney account and was told they need the full acct # by phone.
I have a Chase Southwest airlines card so I sent them a secure message (regular email is not secure) asking for help. I'm doubtful they could but it's a last ditch try.

I understand you're working on Monday morning, but you can also book online, or you can book with a travel agent who will do the calling for you. That's what I always do =)

Thanks everyone.
I'll call on my lunch break. If I'm on hold more than 25 mins it will just have to wait til I get home.

listen to me, you march right into that hospital, you tell them the situation and things are just gonna have to wait until you get FD:laughing:!!!!! It's Disney we are talking about!!!!!:rotfl: I am a nurse too, luckily these next two weeks I have NO patients, I am doing computer training up North, done at 7am (well, 6:45am that day:rolleyes1) I have done FD since it's started in 05, never once was I NOT able to get it...not always the first day either...........people cancel too, so if your first choice of resort is not available, call back until prior to leaving, I bet you get what you want!!:cheer2:

:lmao::rotfl2:
lol! I perform mammography. We NEVER don't have patients, and they're scheduled every 15 mins. Sheesh, we get overhead paged if we're in the bathroom too long.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm used to DCL where the longer you wait to book, the higher the price, even for the same category cabin. So it's not remotely crazy to me to have my TA book 1st thing in AM of the 1st day of release for a cruise 2 yrs away. Call me crazy but others who procrastinate pay thousands more than us for the SAME vacation. :teacher: The cruise to Hawaii sold out by like 10am. Now THAT is crazy.

I'm flexible with resorts so we'll find something.

I sent Chase a secure message while logged into my Chase online site (car payment + mortgage) They replied with my new acct # but not the 3 digit security code. I replied back to request it but I may just try to see if I can book without it.

is this dining discount only if you stay on the park. can i use the dining plan if we are staying onsite at a marriot?

You can not purchase the Disney Dining Plan unless you are staying on-site at a Disney owned property and purchase a Magic Your Way package that includes resort, tickets and dining.
