How do I arrange for assistance at the Atlanta Airport?

My Mom is coming to visit next month.

She has a layover in Atlanta that is less than an hour.

Last time she came down, my Dad said she could barely walk from gate to gate-she gets easily winded and fatigued.

I looked at the Delta website and they say they do provide carts but it doesn't say how to arrange it.

Any advice. I can call them but I dread calling Delta because the calls are routed to India.

Thanks in advance.

I think you need to call Delta. When my in-laws fly, they need wheelchairs and they just call the airline.

You need to arrange this directly through the airline. When they get to the gate at their point of origin, they need to remind the gate agent that they will need a wheelchair or electric cart in ATL. They will let the FA's know and flag the flight for the folks in ATL. Your parents should let everyone off the plane and there should be a cart or chair waiting. If not they can ask the gate agent to have one paged.

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate the Delta customer service line.

I want to speak with someone in the United States!!!!!!!!!!!!! :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:

I've already spoken with 3 people I can't understand.

If you have their flight information and record locator number you might be able to take care of this via e-mail.

I demanded to speak with someone in the U.S. and they put me on hold for about 5 minutes.

Then, a lovely young lady named Carol helped me.

I love how they answer the phone in India and use American names. Yah, like that will fool anyone.

Ugh!

You might also tell your mom to let the flight attendant know she needs assistance. I've always made sure my mom has it marked on her ticket but just worry that if something goes wrong and they don't have the wheel chair she won't tell them at the gate.

You might be able to check that they've marked the ticket online. Just look up her reservation.

It took a little for my mom to except that she needs the service, now that my Dad's gone and she travels alone she has decided that it really helps her and she needs help getting from gate to gate.
