How do DAS return times work near the end of the night?

Ie: it’s an hour until park close, ROR is posting a 2 hour wait, and is still allowing people into the standby line.

Or similar with any of the other headlining rides. What happens with in-park DAS in these cases?

If they let people into the ride you can get a return time at the end of the night you might have to ask the CM at the ride

If you are trying to make it on your phone, and it is a 2 hour wait with one hour until closing, it will not be available as a selection through the MDE app

In my experience, if you go to the attraction, however, they will set a time about 10-15 minutes before park closing to come back

Agree with Anchored.
The app won’t have attractions available to choose if the current wait time extends past park closing.
If you want to ride, you will need to go to the attraction to get a DAS Return Time from the CM.
There is a lot of conjecture that posted wait times are inflated at the end of the night to discourage guests from getting into line
