How do codes work on the blackout dates?

If my ressie was for Oct.9-16 and I received a code(I wish) would I still get a percentage off of the days that aren't in the blackout? What about with free dining? Thanks

I know for the current room only discounts (not PIN codes) that if you book past Feb 11 (when they end) that the room shows up as rack rate. I don't know if a PIN would do the same thing, or if you would have to do a split reservation, one on the discount & the other for rack rate.

What black out dates do you think there may be for Oct? Usually the black outs are for major holidays, like July 4th, Easter week, & Christmas week.

As for the FD question... you can't have 2 discounts on a room. So you would have to choose between Free Dining and your room discount. If you are planning on doing a meal plan, and since you are looking at a value (per your questions on the resort boards), free dining will most likely be your better deal.

I know that I can't apply two discounts, I was just wondering if you would still get FD on all of your other nights if your first two nights weren't included in the deal. As far as blackout dates, it looks like with the PINs people have been getting that my first two nights would be blacked out (Oct. 9-10 I believe). I think this is because of Columbus Day..someone correct me if I'm wrong please!

Okay, in that case you would do a split ressie, and only have Free Dining for the first two nights, and then the code for the remainder of the stay. There is no way you could make it one reservation and split the deals over the trip (make sense?).

Might be a good way to save some cash... do FD for two nights, get your character meals on those days, then just pay out of pocket while on your room-only deal. You can upgrade your park tickets from your free dining ressie to cover enough days for the full trip once you are at Disney.

However... the free dining for the full trip is going to be the better deal. ;)

I was pretty sure that the free dining is usually the best deal if staying at a value...but if we don't stay value then it gets complicated!! I know that many times when staying deluxe that a PIN or room only discount is even better...off to plan some more!:upsidedow

Here is a little tip for you... Dining Plan costs for your family (4 "Disney Adults" & 2 "Disney kids") during October:
Per night price for YOUR family on the DDP: $191.94
Per night price for YOUR family on the QSDP: $147.94

So, if you aren't saving at least $148/night off ANY resort room cost, the free dining is definitely the way to go. ;)

If you were referring to my family..actually I only have 1 disney "kid"...the other one in my siggy is my dog..LOL..but I'm sure she would like to come if we could bring her. I'm sure she would love the DDP!!:dogdance:

:rotfl: OKAY, I see that now!!!! So leaving your dog at home will really only save you $11.99 on the DDP and $9.99 on the QSDP for each night... so it might be cheaper than a dog sitter if you could sneak her along for the trip. :rolleyes1 Of course you would still need a park ticket for her. :lmao:

But you do have three kids (the non canine variety that is;)) right? So you need to count your two older kids as adults then the 5yo as a child. So Marciem's math was just $11.99 off from that original figure. Meaning any discount would have to match that figure (less the amount counted for the dog lol).

I think she noted that, as I had called the older two "disney adults" for a total of 4. She was referring to only have 1 "disney kid" vs. the 2 I had done the math for.

I can just see it -- like Pluto dressed up as a little kid and pushed around in a stroller.

You all are cracking me up..I had to show my dd this thread and ask her if she thought our mini schnauzer would enjoy the DDP!!:rotfl:
And thanks for the help Marcie!

It depends I found out just a week or so ago. We priced WL using the Disney Visa code from Feb 6-12, the first 6 nights had the 40% off, the last night rack rate. We priced the same dates using the 40% PIN, even though the night of the 12th wasn't included (blacked out) we received the 40% off. We ended up changing our stay to the 5th leaving the 12th since the night of the 12th even though discounted was about $100 higher due to it being part of Pres Day weekend. We are still trying to get the AP code applied, but no standard rooms for any of the 3 promos for when we go. We have a woods view with 40% off, no AP discount rooms for that either! Only Woods bunk beds. I check every day since we have 2 rooms and would like the standard room with 45%off for 132/night.

To answer the question, I really don't know since that was what happened to us just the other day! 2 different things happened with the blackout date using 2 codes (with same percentage and timeframes)
