How do character breakfast ps work with package?

I don't know if I can explain my question well, but I'll try. I'm looking at booking a good neighbor package through the Disney website. I want to add a character breakfast to it. When I do that, how do I set up my ps? I want to do Goofy's Kitchen, do I just call like I normally would and make it for when I want (provided that's available, of course)? Does Disney just give us something like a meal voucher then, since we already paid for it? Or do we have to go to a specific place and time that they arrange? Am I making sense?

If I arrange it, how far in advance of my trip should I call? And are some times better than others for character interaction? I want to go fairly early because my kids are early risers and we like to eat first thing . TIA!

When you receive your package from Disney Travel there will be vouchers in there for any meals you have prepaid for. They look just like a ticket and on the back it says what it is for (it will say character breakfast on it). You will need to call and make a PS like you normally would and then when you arrive you give them the voucher.

Call (714) 781-3463 (DINE) to make PS reservations. You can make them 60 days in advance. When you arrive at the restaurant you give them your voucher. If once you get there and decide to do a different meal it's fine, you can use the voucher at any place, there's no specifics on the ticket.

I didn't make any PS reservations before we got there, I just called that day and got in with no problems.
