DD's Brownie pack were in our village carnival with a Wind in the Willows float - won 2nd prize, so really pleased. And with me driving the float, it's a wonder any of the Rainbows (dressed as really sweet little lilypads) remained on the float
Anyway, couple of reporters from local papers came along, one the real funny old local asked a few questions and took a couple of group photos, but the Southampton Echo - the big regional daily - reporter asked Katie and another Brownie, Emily, to stand together on their own, away from the float, to have their photo taken - must admit as dragonflies they look superb (DH made costume, can take no credit there!). He asked all their details, made sure he'd spelt their names and got their ages correctly and told them their picture would be in the Southampton Echo Mon/Tuesday. Milford carnival was, but no picture of the girls - and not even a mention of the Wind in the Willows.
The girls are so disappointed.
Of course there was a full page on the carnival, with some excellent photos of other floats and people in the crowds, but can't help feeling a little cross that the guy really got them excited about their picture being in the paper - and it wasn't
Oh well, there's always next year
