We had an exciting weekend. DH was supposed to go camping with our Scout patrol Friday through Sunday, but computer problems at work got in the way. He opted to work from home Friday night and leave early Saturday morning instead. He really needed to be there since they were planning a day of reppelling and he is one of the dads that is trained.
When he got up early Saturday morning, he shut off my alarm as well as his own. Usually that wouldn't matter, but DS was leaving on a band trip at 7:00 am to 6 Flags Over Texas. I woke up at 6:45!
We were out the door 5 minutes later and we made it. I admit I was still in my nightie! LOL!
DD was supposed to meet some friends on Saturday afternoon. They are members of a Christian girls club called the Grace Girls. We drove around for 30 minutes and never found the right house. DD was a little miffed at me that I gave up and took her back home.
Saturday evening I got a call from DH. Uh-oh! He wouldn't be calling unless something was wrong. I guessed it. The reppelling went great. No problems. Unfortunately, the rope they were planning to use when they were taking the rappelling ropes down from the cliff was not of the same quality as the rappelling ropes. HUGE mistake. DH said it creaked before it snapped and dropped him 6 to 8 feet. He's really pretty lucky. He sprained both ankles, one really bad. It's black but not broken. He then had to hike about a mile back to the cars. Yikes! He goes to the doctor today to get a walking cast (we think).
Anyway, a friend offered to bring our new car home since he couldn't drive. Another friend drove him home Friday night. We've been busy with ice packs and elastic wraps ever since.
DS came back from his trip at midnight Saturday night. They had a good time and got a trophy for their performance at contest before 6 Flags. The 10th-12th band only got a three and the 9th graders got a one! They were so proud!
Yesterday was much calmer. Only a trip to the hospital for Xrays. I think I need another weekend to recover from all the excitement. So how did your weekend go?
