So, I never really knew how mine met. My parents aren't very...uhm, romantic or emotional. But they show their love in other ways. Anyway, so basically I just never heard how they met. Or even how long they dated, etc. I just found out & I think it's the cutest story.

Let me preface and saying that my mom has had health problems with her thyroid since she was 13. Well, one day when she was 17 it started acting up and she felt like she needed to see a doctor. Well, she didn't feel like she was really able to drive, so she called a family friend. The family friend brought her son, and the son offered to drive her to the hospital. The son was my dad, of course.

And after that my dad would come over every day to make sure my mom was feeling well, & whenever he didn't come over, my mom would call him and say stuff like 'the lawn mower is broken'. And then about 4 or 5 years later, they decided to get married. :goodvibes

To me at least, that is so freaking adorable. I mean, what a gentlemen, offering to take my mom to the hospital and all! I don't know what I thought, maybe they just randomly met and got married, lolol. So, who knew my parents were 2 young lovebirds!?

How'd your parents meet?

My parents met their sophomore year in college. They were both in the same club together. They became really good friends, and started dating the fall of their senior year.

They both knew they wanted to be in medical school, so they went to the Justice of the Peace and got married. Both sets of grandparents were so not happy about that. They had the ceremony a few months later. After that, I came along! ;) When I was born, both were in school full time. :)

My parents met at college. (Penn State) I guess my dad sat behind my mom in a class, and once she invited him to a Halloween party. He got all excited lol, but (if I can remember right) she actually had a date, and invited him just to come along with whoever he wanted to so he wasn't so happy about that. :rotfl: But yeah, things worked out eventually and they got married after college.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think they met at a party in college. One of my mom's friends told her that she found the perfect guy for her and that they could meet at the party. Meanwhile, one of my dads friends told him that he found the perfect girl for him and that they could meet at the party. They were set up with each other by two different people. They did meet up at the party & got married right after my dad graduated college (I think). I know it was right before he went into the Navy. (My dad is 2 years older than my mom)

I haven't heard the story since I was about 10, but I'm pretty sure that's what happened.

My parents met at work. My mom was my dad's secretary, and my dad asked her on a date.
My mom said no, because she REALLY didn't like him. He was super popular and was always dating someone (ahaha it's so weird to think of my dad as a "ladies man"), but she thought he was too cocky and turned him down.

So my dad persisted, and constantly complimented her, and kept asking her. out. She kept saying no.
He stopped paying attention to all of the other girls that were interested in him, and told my mom he wouldn't give up on her easily.

Eventually he wore her down, and now they've been happily married for 24 years.

I love their story. :]

Both of my parents had been married before. My mom's first husband left her and moved to Arizona and she was devastated. Anyway, they were at a church singles group and that is where they met. They got married after dating for a year, according to my mom.

My parent's is hilarious to me...

My dad was the assistant manager at this local mostly family-run grocery store. The other assistant manager was the owner's son. So he was usually high and did whatever stupid things he wanted, like hiring another cashier when they didn't need one. Which is how my mom ended up working there.

So my dad's first words when being introduced to my mom... "We don't need another cashier! What did you hire her for?" So charming. Haha. But then he started to like her and invited her on lots of group outings with co-workers until he got the guts to ask her out on a real date.

I have no idea. My parents don't talk about it.

Hmmm, I love explaining how my parents met.. its pretty cool now, just read and you'll see what I mean.

Well my mom was raised.. lets see, she was raised with the best everything.. she was a 'rich kid'. I'm not gonna lie; looking at my mom's high-school pictures she was GORGEOUS. I am sooo jealous

My dad.. hmm thats another story. He grew up, uhm kinda poor. He was the oldest of six brother's. His family moved alot! He was the kinda teenager that wore black leather jackets, chewed tobacco, and rode a motorcycle everywhere. Soo no so good kid, huh.

Well the my dad moved to my home town the summer before their sophomore year. He got a job working for his 'future father-in-law', at his store.. thats where he first met my mom. One day while he was working, she walked in with her friend, Jane. Asked my grandfather for permission to go to her house..
So, one day when my mother and Jane we're outside 'tanning' my dad drove by on his motorcycle and noticed her again, and then a couple days later, again, and again, so on and so on. Well my mom had a little crush on Jane's older brother Mark. He was like 6 years older I believe. Anyways, Jane realized one day how much my dad was driving by so much and said something about it to my mom, so then she started noticing him.. blahblah, weeks passed. My dad was at work one day and asked my grandpa if it was okay to take my mom out.. he surprisingly said yes..(you dont know him) I guess he saw something special in him, and my mom said yes. So they went out a few times.. then it started to get serious.. she told him that she didn't like the whole rebel, dip, drinking scene, and that it was either that or her.. of coarse it was her! Weird thing is.. they started dating (like bf/gf) football season of their sophomore year. hmm so did me and Garrett, ironic? i think not. another weird thing.. Mark is Garrett's dad.. Jane, his aunt! Who woulda thought 20 something years later we'd be together. XD

My parents met in college.

My mom's roommate was dating my dad's roommate and they were actually the ones that introduced my parents to each other. I think that my mom's friend was going to her boyfriend in his dorm and my mom went with her and then saw my dad there. And then, according to her, it was 'love at first sight'.

I think my dad and mom met in school.

My friend's aunt was friends with my mom. She married this other guy who was friends with my step-dad and they introduced each other to their friends and that was it...basically.

I'm not a teen but saw this thread and thought it was cute. I'm actually 48.

My parents met at Yankee Stadium. Her boss had box seats and couldn't use the tickets so gave them away. My mom and her friend went and the other person who got the tickets couldn't use them so gave them to his brother and brother's friend. The brother and my mom got married.

The funny thing though is when I was very young we moved from NY to Massachusetts. My 4 brothers and I are all Red Sox fans and hate the Yankees. My mother tries to tell us that we should have some loyalty to the Yankees, but NO WAY.

My parents worked in the hospital and they met on their smoking break outside.
How they fell in love....my mom wont tell me.

My parents met at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. They both worked there. xD

I'm not exactly sure the details, but all I know is they met at college. They both went to Boston University. I don't really know much. Oh yeah, and something about my dad and his friends always playing hockey outside my mom's dorm room and she always had to come out and yell at them.

I hope i get the story right, i love it!

Well my mom knew my dads mom, sister (terry), and brother all before she knew him (they all worked together)

one time she was at a bar and my dad was part of a pool team and he was playing that night (so romantic right  haha) and she saw his last name on it which was the same as my aunt terrys ( she knew her from work).

so she asked him if he was related and he said yeah and blah blah blah.

she actualy thought he was a big loser and xD

anyway so she got over that he was a loser and went on a couple dates with him & he said " i dont think we should go steady", so he could go on dates with other girls and my mom could sit at home and think of him

well their next date she told him about how she went on various dates and after she told him about her dates he decided that they should go steady xD

then like 7 months into being steady he breaks up with her because he was planning on not getting married (xD) and he knew guys that would have gf's for like 5 years who werent planning on ever getting married and he thought it was so cruel.

silly daddy (;

so two months after they break up he finds out the he isnt the only one extremely depressed from the break up (my mom went down to 95 lbs! she was to upset to eat :sad2:) and they got back together.

then a couple months after that he chickens out twice on asking her to marry him
both nights he took her out to wonderful, fancy dinners

then after the second night he chickened out when he got home he called her & told her that he needed to talk to her

he rode his motorcycle in the rain 45 minutes to my moms house

they were in the basement, my moms parents upstairs
my mom in tye-dye pj's with no make-up
my dad wet, from rain and the nervous sweat he was breaking out in
he pulled out the rind and asked her to marry him

(: i think its uber cute

omg that is SOO much longer than i thought it was!

:rotfl:
Thats so funny!

My parents were at a graduation party when they met.

I love telling this story to my friends! Surprisingly they always seem to like to hear it, lol.

My dad was (and still is) a news reporter, but back then he was working with a different station. And my mom was Rudy Guliani's press secretary. My dad was a assigned to do a series of stories that had to do with something controversial Guliani was doing, and he had to interview my mom several times. My dad said that he instantly fell for my mom. My mom, not so much. She was annoyed about meeting the press for one thing, and I guess she just didn't feel that "spark" right away like my dad had. For a long time, their relationship was only professional. Finally, 2 years later, my dad asked her out. They went to the New York music awards for their first date, and it's actually a kinda funny story because my mom thought she was going to the American music awards, so she was all excited and right away said yes, but then it turned out to not be what she thought it was. So she sucked it up, but ended up really liking my dad. My mom has told me that she honestly never thought she'd end up with someone like my dad. My mom is white, and my dad is Latino, and has dark skin. She wasn't being racist or anything like that, she just grew up in a small town with barely any blacks or latinos, so it just didn't really cross her mind. But eventually my parents fell in love. They went through a few hardships, like dealing with my dad being an alcoholic (which he's not anymore...he went to rehab when my mom threatened to leave him if he didn't clean up his act) My dad proposed on New Year's Eve in the same spot they had their first kiss (which was actually an intersection in Greenwich Village). He said something along the lines of "I don't want a New Year to start without knowing that I'm going to spend the rest of my life with you." And then he asked her to marry him, and obviously my mom said yes. And the rest is history. They've been married for 19 years :)
