How did your 5yrold do on ToT?

I'm in line with then DD6, noticing just how little she looks the lady in front of her asks 'is this your first time to ride, aren't you scared?'

To which I replied 'it's her fifth time today'
(Boy is that a flashback memory to legacy FP)

Yeah, I think she was fine with it. When it came to 'scary' rides and the kids my policy was this....I won't make you ride twice, but, since the ride is indoors you'll have to ride once to know what it is to make a decision if you would like it again.

One thing I did when taking them at 2 yo,which you could do at any age, is practice dark and loud at home. Get in the darkest room with all lights off, add loud music or noises, flashing lights if you want, touch them throughout and when done explain that dark and loud don't hurt, neither does dropping. I also would show them the people exiting a scary ride...still alive with all limbs attached.

She went last year at 4 yrs 4 months old and LOVED it!! We got a FP+ for her again this year. She is a very quiet, shy, smart girl. We've never used the word 'scared' in our house though. Everything is "awesome", "amazing", "startling" etc.

DD hated it the first time, but wanted to ride again and again. Fifteen years later, it's her favorite ride.

Back when dd was just turned 6 was our first trip to WDW. There was no way she was going to go on ToT...I wasn't even crazy about the idea. But the following year I did it with friends. So, when my dd went again, when she was 8, we decided to do it together since my first experience had been such a good one. Well....we got a really scary sequence!!! It horrified my poor dd...she refused to ride it again...ever! Okay...fast forward a few years to when she was 13....she decided to give it a shot again. Now, it's her favorite ride!
I decided early on not to push her on this one...figured that if she developed a fear of elevators, it could have not so great consequences!!!

My daughter rode it when she was three. It all depends on the individual.

My 3 year old(4 in another month) hasn't ridden yet, but is really looking forward to it in a couple of weeks. I've told him all about it, and it doesn't seem to deter him. He has been building "Tower of Terrors" with his lego blocks for months now.

Some kids will be thrill seekers. I think most parents will already have an idea if it is something their kids will like, but no one will know until they experience it. When I was his age, I cried and cried and cried when my parents wanted to take me on BTMRR. At least the first time of every trip. After that, you couldn't keep me from going back on, but sure enough, the next trip, I'd be scared again.

My 5 year did fine with the ride. We rider swapped it so she got to ride it twice in 20 minutes. It's pretty funny because in the ride picture my husband and I are both looking at her to make she was doing ok. I thought it was super scary though!!
