How did you use free dining with AP?

I need help from and AP holder who has come back from Disney, having used the free dining. We are going in Oct, and to take advantage of the dining offer I had to purchase a one day pass, but I am not planning on using the pass this trip (because I'll use the AP). So...

how does this work, because I had heard that the dining card and the pass card are the same. I'm just making sure that I don't have to use the pass portion of the card in order to activate the free dining. Then I assume that on a later trip I can just use the one day pass, or use it to upgrade to a multi-day ticket.

Anyone know anything on this? Thanks for the help!

I'd like to know the answer too. We leave in 10 days. So if no one answers by the time we get back, I'll be able to post in 17 days. I'm hoping they will give a paper ticket, seems easier than trying to get in with an out of date room key.

Or if anyone has a Non-expiring MYW ticket is it on the room key or did they give you a seperate ticket?

I know the dinning card does not expire until Midnight of your check out day and I would assume that you do not have to use it to get into the park but can use it for the dinning, however if you didn't purchase the no expiration option then the ticket will expire at the end of your trip. Hope this helped a little.

Disney states that the tickets expire 14 days after first use meaning if you don't use it then it doesn't expire ever.

We have APs, and bought 1day tickets to get the free dining plan. We don't plan on using the tickets for park admission. We're using our APs instead and saving the 1day tickets. Then next year, when our APs expire, we'll use the 1day tickets and upgrade it at guest services.

I believe Robinb has a DDE (which is for APholders or FL residents) and she was on the dining plan. You might want to PM her, see if she can shed some first hand experience.

Your dining plan, room key and ticket admissions is on the same hard plastic card (size and thickness of credit card). So make sure you don't toss or lose the room key/dining/tix. We had split stays in May on the dining plan (even though we have AP). I currently hold 6 of these plastic cards (2 adults & 1 child x 2 separate pkg so 6 cards). I followed the advise of other DISers and brought masking tape. Applied a piece of masking tape on the front of each card, indicating how many days and adult or child. 3 cards have 10 days non-expiring and 3 cards are single day admissions (so never expires until used).
