How did you pay for your DVC membership?

Yikes on the borrowing from a retirement account-I would not recommend that at all because of a) penalities and b) lowering financial security of your future. Think long and hard about the home equity line route also- those rates are not fixed and climb all the time. Better off financing at a fixed rate if you can find a decent one. The 0% cc option is great if you can pay it all off in 1 year.

Actually, I financed my initial purchase through my retirement account and have no regrets. I may actually come out ahead since the stock market hasn't been doing great this year. There are no penalties unless you don't pay the money back. My account is still very well funded. I pay the interest back to myself so it is not lowing my future financial security. I'm still fully funding my account and receiveing matching contributions. Also, my earliest retirement date has been pushed back with our latest addition (DS2).

Paid cash for all 910 of our points at OKW, Vero and HH. My husband wouldn't have agreed to purchase if we couldn't have paid for it upfront.

Wow...that be a LOT of pts. I feel the same way about not financing. If you're gonna make it worth it it's best not to.

we bought resale and paid cash.

We used my bonus, DW bonus, tax refund, sold Disney stock and some savings for our 210 pts.

Want to know what all of my options are. Thanks!

We paid with filthy, bloody lucre & up front. Aye me hardy. pirate:

However, we are planning an add-on for AKV when we go for Spring Break this year and will likely finance it for 1 year optimally but it may be as long as 3yrs. depending on the # of points we purchase.

I don't like to finance luxury items as a general rule but as long as it doesn't extend past 3yrs I can usually justify it.......

DVC loans are simple interest loans after all.

Good luck with your upcoming decision.

We orginally purchased resale and paid cash. Then added on through Disney and placed it on a credit card. Transferred that card to one that was 3.99% for the life of the loan. Paid if off early. Then purchased add ons again and placed them on a home equity loan. Bought at AKL and financed through Disney but will be paying it off soon or will transfer it to a credit card with a great rate again.

I'm thinking of using my tax rebate (family of 6 here) to purchase a 25 pt add on. I really want to do my part to help the economy.

For those that put the DVC on your Disney Visa...do you still get your Disney rewards point as well? That sounds like a great idea if you do, then just pay off the visa right away.

For those of you with Disney Visas....what are your credit limits (if I may ask)?.... cause I just got mine about 3 months ago to pay for 155 hours of tutoring for DD10 at Sylvan. My limit is only $6000. Once Sylvan is paid for (in about 6 months) that's not gonna be enough for a DVC membership. :confused3 I have excellent credit and have NEVER been given a high credit limit before. Not one big enough to pay for a dvc membership anyway.

My husband and I both have our own Disney Visa Cards. My credit limit is $18,900 and my husband's is $18,000, but isn't that crazy? :confused3

Mines so high I can't even imagine. Something like $30,000????

Personally I think it's because I charge a LOT. I travel on business and while that's not on the Disney Visa the Master Card my company uses does report to the Credit Agencies and I am "primary" responsible for the account. (The company will pay if I dropped of the face of the earth) So it's not uncommon for $5 to $10K to flow through that Master Card on a busy month.... As a result, ALL of my cards seem to have HUGE limits... LOL! And if I don't charge on them they send me mail RAISING the limit. I think they keep hoping some of that money on the MC will come thier way!

And yes, you get Disney Reward Dollars if you put your DVC on Disney Visa. Got them when I bought my 50 point AKV add on!

Ok. I just requested a credit limit increase online. They are suppose to respond via email within 4 hours with a yay or nay. The Visa is so new that I don't know if they'll increase it or not. I've had the Universal for years though. They should increase it....How much? I don't know. I need to have all of this figured out and ready to go when it comes time for me to pursue CRV. I want it so bad I can taste it! But I can wait. In the meantime.....I learn all I can!
