How did you pay for your DVC membership?

Just a note, although Disney does take CC to pay, I don't think the resalers do.

One of the reslers used to take those credit card checks you get. This was last year so not sure if they still do now.

I ran it through my AOL Visa and got 6 or 7 months free AOL (this was 1999). DVC split the charge into 2 payments so that I would not go over my credit limit. I then paid it off with cash from a CD I cashed in, money I had saved and a 401K loan (2 years).

Disney Visa to get the reward points then paid that bill in full so no finance charge. Thankfully we are now at a point where we can do this.

Well, yeah, that's what we did, too. I consider that to be same as cash.

We used money from a inheritance property sale for the initial purchase.

1st add-on - Disney VISA - got our points and paid it off within the 6 month 0% time period.

2nd add-on - Disney VISA to get our points then switched to a new 0% for 12mo. card and hope to have it paid off by Nov.

3rd add on - still hoping for that one ;)

Good Luck to you!!

We paid for our first 230 points with a home equity loan and paid cash for the 150 point add-on and 69 point add-on.

We used our home equity line so we could deduct the interest on our taxes (plus it's a lot lower than other rates)! Currently trying to save a little cash for a small add-on.....but it's slow going!:)

Financed through Disney, and then paid off the balance two months later with a fixed interest rate of 3.99% offered by my credit card via a check with $30 processing fee. Warning: We can't use the card for any other purchases, though, or the other charges are the last to get paid off (at the higher interest rate). So we cut up the cards! :)

we put the 'down payment' on Disney Visa, (0% x 6 months & @ that time a 500 points bonus towards reward $$) & sorted through the 'junk mail' for a week or so & found a Visa w/ 0% x15 months w/ a pretty good points reward for freq flier miles (gotta get to the World:yay: )

Put $4000 down in cash- Put $8000 on a 0% for 1 year CC. Paid it off in in 9 months so paid no interest.

Originally put the purchase on our mileage card and then transferred it to our HELOC. We got a plane ticket out of the deal!:goodvibes

We purchased all three of our contracts on our CC for the mileage. Then paid them off the subsequent month with cash.

Thus, mileage plus no interest. :thumbsup2

(IE..the CC checks OP mentioned earlier)
I think I saw that somewher as an option, but it had a little addendum about time to clear those or something. I can't remember for sure, but I think that was through TSS.

We financed the contract through Disney. Pating extra principal every month to cut the time in half. Used Disney Visa for our 25 point add on and paid that off.

DW and I financed our initial BWV purchase through Disney, even though MANY people suggested that it was not the best use of our money just starting out as a married couple. We are almost ready to pay off the 10 year loan this August. :woohoo:

Our HHI add-on was paid in full using one year's tax refund.

Now we are waiting for the announcement of GCV, to see if we can afford it outright, or not.

We are financing through Disney right now because it's an initial purchase, however we put our down payment and closing costs on the Disney Visa to earn the points and take advantage of the 6 mos SAC. (that promo is good for all cardholders new or existing) We are planning on paying off our DVC in the next 2 years. If you are planning on financing for a longer period of time, you may want to check out other options because DVC interest rates are pretty high even for those with excellent credit.

We paid cash for our first contract of 100 points and financed our add-on of 120 points through Disney. At the time we had two kids in college and our DD was planning on getting married within a year. Once our youngest finishes college we'll start paying off our add-on.
