How did you frame your litho?

OK, I've got a spot all picked out for the SSR litho, and had hoped to pick up a frame tomorrow. But when I measured it tonight, I discovered that the mat measures 11" x 13". Unless I'm mistaken, that's not a standard size. I held it up to an 11x14" frame, and there would definitely be some daylight around the wide edge.

Any suggestions for getting a frame for this thing? Will I be forced to pay for a custom frame?

About a month ago, this was my question! Now our prints are framed and gracing our computer/living room wall. Some people were able to find a ready-made frame that fit perfectly, most suggested looking for coupons in Sunday's paper for Michael's. We used a coupon from a local mailer, and paid just under $60 to have both of ours framed. It took about a week to do. We are very pleased.

I took my print to Hobby Lobby and picked out a frame. They cut a custom mat (I didn't care for the one that came with it -- BCV) and then framed it for around $30. And, they did it all while I finished my shopping! Not bad, I thought, and it looks beautiful hanging on my wall.

22 days and counting . . . again!

Yes, they are a weird size. I had bought the perfect frame and got hoem to discover the mat was too big. My hubby measured it and had to cut it down with a blade. He did a great job. It is centered well and the embossed DVC logo is still on the bottom. Last time this was discussed several had it framed with new mats, but I think ours turned out great and we saved the money. It still looks professionally done.

I went to Hobby lobby and found a pre-framed matted print that was on sale and the pic was ugly but I liked the frame and mat. I bought it, removed the pic and mounted the litho directly on top of the mat.
I will try to scan a pic of it later today........ it looks really good.. it hangs in our hall bathroom.. sounds like a dumb place but it looks good in there.
here it is...

Tjkraz,

Hobby Lobby also sells modular frames. You pick the length of the top and the length of the sides, and then assemble yourself. Just ask Hobby Lobby to cut a piece of glass to fit, and you're done.

I've done numerous movie posters, as well as animations cels with modular frames. They look great!

The Litho will be hung in our bedroom. The maroon mat is the same color as our bedroom. Yes, it is a wierd size - ended up going to Prints Plus for a "fake" cherry finish frame. They did it for us ... The whole thing was about $30.00. Had the letter that we got with it put on the back as well.

Well......Don't know if this is embarrassing to say, but we still have ours in the plastic and mat it arrived in. We received our Boardwalk print in August and we have it kind of behind some items in a bookshelf. We're also waiting to tell (surprise) most of the family about our purchase until the holiday trip, so that's another reason why it's not yet proudly on display.

Peace
