how did you find the DIS?

I cannot remember-I tried once going all the way back on my posts, but I never make it because I always find something to reread before I get to the beginning.

Edit-It don't let you go back anymore to the beginning. My 1st post is dated Nov. 04. Guess I haven't tried it in a long time searching my old posts.

I know I got a big tax return in April 2000 and we decided to go to Disney-I must have found the DIS then.

I would see a reference to the "DIS" board quite often on the Passporter board. Thought I'd check it out.. Glad I did.

i also found this site a few years ago by googling for info fro our upcoming trip. it was our first trip for myself and my new family and i wanted to get as much info and advice as i could.

i visited for a bit,ok well i lurked for a bit, then i joined and have been here since and i do love this place

I think on a yahoo or webcrawler (gosh, seems like ages ago I used those) search for our family trip in late '99. Came here in early '99. Then, when as a moderator here on the CB, and Pete wanting a few moderators on during the night switchover, I had to re-register in April of '00, thus my 4/00 start date.

I recall early in '99, really just using the static part of the site, not the boards, and looking at the link on the home page to the 'discussion forums', wondering who the heck would want to discuss anything on the Net, much less Disney stuff, LOL. One day I clicked and liked it. :cool1:

Here is a link if you are so inclined to read a bit about those early days.....

I found the Dis in 2001 from another forum (the mouse 4 less (disney dollarless at the time)) and lurked and learned a lot for my June 2001 trip. In Dec 2003 my mom, sister and I decided on a fall 2004 girls trip and I suggested WDW. I think my mom thought I would forget about it, but I started to lurk again here, but I thought the Dis was just too overwheliming so I joined another board.

Fast forward to June 2004...fall was approaching fast and I was trying to put together a vacation book for my mom and sister with various info. I needed help fast and remembered the dis. I did some lurking while I filled the pages (they came in at 56 pages!!) of the books with info about MNSSHP and the F&WF. Well I finally had some questions that I couldn't find answers to in July and joined.

from a link of cruisecritic

This is where I heard about the DISboards as well. I had booked a 4 day land/3 day sea for our first cruise experience and I was reading about DCL on the cruisecritic site. Which I think I read about in the Unofficial Guide to Cruises!

Somewhere on cruisecritic I read about the DISboards and have happily been here ever since!

Through a Yahoo search years ago when I was researching DH and I's honeymoon trip. :teeth:

I was planning our 2nd Disney cruise in the summer of 2003 and did a web search looking for ways to try and get discounts on their cruises...and here I am 2.5 years later. :goodvibes

Found it by doing a web search when I was looking for info to help me with our trip.

When I got my first home PC, naturally I sought out Disney sites. The rest is history:earsboy:

About 1 1/2 years ago, I was browsing through a copy of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World and saw this site mentioned in the book. I'm so glad I noticed that because the DIS has been a wonderful resource for information.

I was in Books-A-Million one night this week and saw a young lady searching through several Disney guide books. I went up to her and apologized for bothering her, then proceeded to tell her about the DIS boards and how much they helped me. She and her family are going to WDW in May and she said she was just lost on how to plan for their trip. She seemed very appreciative to learn of a place to go to get many of her questions answered so maybe she will stop by and become another DIS member. :thumbsup2

I found it while doing a search on Disney when planning a mother/son trip back in March. I stuck with the trip planning boards for a while before I ever came to the Community Board.

Man, this is TERRIBLE, but I can't remember how I FOUND the DIS!!!! Judging from my "join date" (November 2003), I can tell you that I was at home for 10 weeks during this time, DS(then)7 had just had a kidney transplant, and I was researching a trip to celebrate at WDW in January 2004. I've never left either. I love this place.

Thats how I found about about this dis. pixiedust: I was reading the Unofficial guide for our then 2nd ever trip to WDW and I found the page mentioning the DIS.

I was doing a search when planning my Disney Cruise and found the DIS boards. I probably didn't leave the cruise board for the first 6 months or so that I was here.
