How did you convince your spouse to add more points?

Tell them afterwards. It's always ended well for me:)

That's exactly how I do it. I just add on and when the package arrives, I just say, "hey, when you get a chance, there's some palm trees that need your signature". I have 7 contracts now, and that's probably it for us....all I need to do is look at my dues bill and it cures my addonitis.

We have a "vacation fund" that we put money into each month. When it gets to a certain amount we have tended to add on. I wait and find the right contract at the time we have the payment covered and let her know what the plan is and just kind of do it... :p

We're still married and she doesn't seem to mind we're spending 12 days at Aulani over Christmas.

I second this option for this purpose- save the money and when you have the desired amount, then discuss it with your husband. If you can carve this out of your budget, you should be ok.

I added on 3 times, and I used the extra money I earned from being on-call or working overtime (I'm a nurse) and pretty quickly had what I needed for the add-ons.

We have added points three times, and I haven't had to convince DH it was a good idea. Our home resort is AKV, and we've always gotten a 1-bedroom, savanna view, even though it is just the two of us. DH loves sitting on the balcony watching the animals, and we go there for at least 8 nights once a year or more. We were fine until we discovered we love HH and also need to go there at least once a year. We tried a studio at HH, came home and added points, we tried a 1-bedroom at HH, then a 2-bedroom when we took friends, and we have more than enough points for now. However, when DH retires in about a year, we'll have time to travel more often. Hmmmm...we may need to think about buying more points in the future.
