Just curious on how you chose your pet's names.
Our boxer, who is a MAJOR airhead, is named Castaway Wilson. We call him Wilson, like the volleyball. :lmao::lmao: It fits him, such a goofy dog!

Bonnie our shih tzu got her name because years ago, I had another boxer named Clyde. So we had bonnie and Clyde.

Our solid black cat is named Samantha, from the Tv show.

Our jack russell is Madeline, I gave her to my husband as a wedding gift (but a couple weeks early, not on the wedding day!) and he asked what we should name her, and I told him to think of one since she is his present, I didn't want to take that away from him, and he looked at her and said Madeline. It's perfect :)

Brady is mine, and he is named after Tom Brady :)

Apollo (My greyhound) is named after the Greek God Apollo. I love mythology, especially Greek mythology.

Munson (My Bulldog) is named after the football announcer for the University of Georgia. My brother named her.

King (my cat) came with the name and we just didn't change it :confused3

My first dog-Ladybug was all ready named
2nd dog-Sabrina-I really liked Charlie's Angels when I was a kid
3rd dog-Nikita- named after the tv show La Femme Nikita
4th dog-Sasha-I was going to get a boy dog had all these cool names, ended up with a girl and it was spur of the moment name
5th d0g-Delgado-named after the GS in Beverly Hill Chiuaha. I was going to name him Chaos or Demon, but Dd and I agreed on Delgado-however Chaos is his middle name. and yes he has given us some chaotic moments.

Kitten we just adopted a few weeks ago-Nubbs-he was named to us getting him and he only has part of a tail.

My cat is Molly. Or Miss Molly Belle, which is her full name. She'll respond to any combination (Belle, Miss Molly, Miss, etc.). I don't have a good reason, really. :confused3 She just seemed like a Molly and she was such a pretty kitten that I also called her Belle.

we have spooky (black cat). he was this little bitty cryin' kitten when we found him in the dark. all black, triangle head, pointy ears so mom named him spooky.

then came sassy a few years later. i got her from a friend for my dad and couldn't figure out a name for her. i said well she sure does have a pair of sassy pants on getting into everything. so she became sassy or sassy pants mostly.

after katrina, i rescued another cat...orange, like garfield, ate like him too when i brought him home! think macy's day garfield balloon! :rotfl: we couldn't figure out a name. so i said wait...he has to have an "s" name like the other 2. mom, me, hubby had just about given up and my mom yells, SYLVESTER! he's vesta butt most of the time. sweetest cat i've ever had (and i've had many!)

and lastly sushi. she's our yellow lab. since we took sylvester when we got our house, we were gonna have to give our new dog an "s" name. hubby and i went back and forth...he even looked at baby names online
he narrowed it down to 3 names and i just loved sushi. she's called rolls a lot of the time. we also could have gotten her registered, so she had to have a fun name and sushi rolls just has a great ring!

i  all my babies!

My parents were both accountants. Our dogs are Debit and Credit. :thumbsup2

we've had 3 dogs.

our first dog was named kirby. If anybody remembers the game kirby's adventures on nintendo from like 15 years ago, thats where we got the name from. My brother and I were playing that a couple of days before we got our dog adn we had been talking about names for him and we liked the name kirby so it stuck.

Our second dog lizzie was a rescue so we did not name her. She was 9 months old when we got her and we just kept her name.

Our third dog Yofi was also named when we got him. He was my aunt and uncle's dog but they werent ablet o take care of him anymore so we took him adn we decdied not to change his name (but we were also only supposed to have him for 6 months....its been 3 1/2 years:rolleyes:)
Sometimes with yofi though we swear his name is really either No Yofi, or d**n it Yofi, or devil dog...he is constantly in trouble

Quino (pronounced Keno) and Zazzle came with their names from rescue groups - the kids wanted to keep them. I don't like the names, but oh well.

Honey looked like a little bear as a puppy, so we thought of Pooh and called her Honey. Buddy is 100% a Buddy - minute I saw him in his cage at the pound I called him "Little Buddy"... and when we were leaving one of the workers said, "My little buddy is going home" - so Buddy was named. Scarlett - well, another stray and DH though scarlett was a shade of black (she is a black cat) and he named her... so I tell people she was named at Scarlett O'Hara (honestly, we all call her Kitty). Finally, Zippy the robo hamster is fast.

Our orange cat was named Simba (where I get my handle from). I got him in 1995, after I had worked the previous summer atthe YMCA as a summer camp counselor. In the summer of 1994, I was one of the lucky counselors who got to go on the movie field trip 4 times where we saw -- you guessed it -- The Lion King. I purchased Simba (don't blast me) from a pet store (only because I specifcally wanted an ORANGE cat) and had asked for a girl kitty and was assured Sim was a girl, so I named her Nala. Well, I take Nala in for her first vet visit where they asked me what her name was and I said 'Nala.' They then told me that she was more of a Simba. However, Simba, quickly got shortened to Sim, and it's tradiiton in my family never to call a pet by their real name, so Sim/Simba became Tim, Timmers, Timba, Tim-o-phee, The Lion King (he had the personalityof a lion), and Flufferbutt (he was a huge cat). Sadly he passed away in 2008 at the age of 13.

Our dog is named Gabby. My husband named her. I really have no idea where it came from, but in the Spring of 2001, I was student teaching a group of 3rd graders. One of my students was the daughter of a teacher across the hall (who I would often talk to about teaching as the teacher I was assigned was of no help -- she took on me and another student teacher at the last minute and had no qualifications to be a model teacehr). Anyway, my little 3rd grader had a younger sister named Gabrielle who was 3 years old. She was such the typical 3 year old that when she was mad she'd say "My name is Gabby-elle!" I guess I told this story to my husband too many times. So technically our dog (half Lab and half Dalmation) is named Gabby-elle. Just like Simba, Gabbers, Gabby-Abby, and Gabberdoodle is what we call her the most. We got Gabby in July of 2001. She's the best guard dog ever.

As a side note, naming after interests or hobbies -- my mom has three cats. She has a graduate degree in English and her cats are Othello, Cassio, and Iago from Shakesphere. What's cute is hearing my daughter, who is 2.5, say thier names -- O-Tell-O, Cass-E-O, and YA-Go. At least she gets some Shakespearian exposure at her young age.

Our dog is named Mingus Max. Mingus because my DH is a music major and loves Charles Mingus, whose autobiography is titled "Beneath the Underdog" and Max because my son insisted that Max was a great name for a dog and didn't want to give it up.

We also have two cats, Guinivere and Persephone. Or Win and Percy for short. I loved Greek Mythology in high school and decided that I was gonna get a cat and name her Persephone. But when we went to pick up the one cat (rescued from someone about to throw them in the river), she had a sister who has a facial deformity came home too. At first I named her Thea, but DH said no to that and came up with Guinivere. When we looked up the meaning it meant white wave and her fur does have a white wave appearance so Bingo... that was it.

We had two dogs,

Percy, our female Golden, she was named by my sister and we both liked the name, her full name was Priscilla Anglica Diana, Anglica from the rugrats (remember that Nick cartoon?? It was of my favorite shows!) and Diana for Princess Diana who had passed away a few months before.

Chuckie, our Yorkie, was first named after Chuckie from the Rugrats becasue when we went and got him he seemed so shy and skititsh. Well, after about a day we realized he was much more like Chuckie, from the scary movie Chucke. He was such a little terror! After only one day in the house he made it clear that he was in charge and that little 2.5 lb puppy had our 80lb golden in the corner! He ruled the roost for 10 yrs. We had to give him away after my son was born, he just couldn't handle the baby in the house and started using the bathroom in the baby's room. He is now very happy living with an older women who has no children. She treats him like the King he belives himself to be, LOL!

My very first pets, nearly 20 years ago, were a goldfish and a catfish. Flounder (from The Little Mermaid) and Kitty Cat (makes sense, no?).

I was 8 when we got our first boxer. My mom asked my sister what she would like to name a dog. My sister said Cookie and refused to try any other name.

My mom always said she would call a boxer "What A Mug" or Mugzy for short. So, all these years later, I now have my Mugzy, it fits her perfectly. She answers to Mugzy, Mugz, Muggles, Bubby, and anything else if you have food in your hand. :)

My mom loves Apolo Ohno so she named the chihuahua after him.... I personally don't like the guy but it is her dog....

I adopted both of my cats from different shelters 9 months apart, both of their pre-adoption names were Peanut. Not a fitting name for either kitten.

The first cat we adopted was during my husband's blackjack playing phase, so we considered naming him blackjack; after some house hold debate we named him Jacques Thekatz (a fancy french name for an abused shelter kitty)--we call him Jack for short or sometimes just Thekatz "The cat".

The second cat we adopted (pictured to the left) was the smallest cat we had ever seen, and we got him at the same time the Mini Cooper was popular. We decided to name him Mini Cooper Karr--we call him Cooper or Coo's.

We decided (even though they were shelter mutts) that they deserved three names like all the show pets.

I have two dogs:

We got our lab/golden retriever mix from the pound. On the way home, we were trying to pick out a name, and I said, "His coat looks like sand. We should name him Sandy!" So yes, my 6yo self named our boy dog Sandy :rotfl: The name fits him perfectly, though.

Our other dog is a completely black cocker spaniel. We got him when he was 6 weeks old and acutally went a couple of days without a name. We just couldn't think of the perfect name for him. His fur is completely black, but he does have a tiny white patch on his chin that looks like a goatee. My dad said it reminded him of Toby Keith's goatee, so we named him Toby. To this day I can't think of a better name for him.

Here's a picture I took of them on my phone around Christmas:

Our oldest cat, an Egyptian Mau is named Jefe', as in Jeff in Spanish. Why? I don't know.

Our youngest is named Keith...another one where I don't know what we were thinking.

Both of the names fit the cats now though.

Both are girls. LOL

Our dog, a black cocker spaniel is named Stanley. His full name though is Lord Stanley after the Stanley Cup!

Our hamster is named Stuart because he reminds us of Stuart Little.

I have a white westie and his name is Spike! I got the name because he looks sweet but is naughty so I named him after Spike on buffy the vampire slayer!
