I'm not even married, nor do I even know if I even want children, but if I do have specific names in mind should the need arise.

First son will be named for future DH, and the first daughter will be named for myself of course ;) Another son would be named for Elton John or Greg Louganis. Another daughter would be named for my mother. Do you see a trend developing here?

Of course my future DH might not be so pro on these names, which leads me to this my other question. How did you compromise with a name that you loved, but your SO detested?

Easy.........

No 1 Son....is JADYN MYLES.......

Jadyn was the name of the little boy who won Tiny Tot of the year in 1984 the year we were married & I really loved the name & wanted to use it if I ever had a boy......Myles I like because it has a matching Y with Jadyn, plus it's a nice name.

No 2 son.....is LACHLAN BRODIE.........

Lachlan was the easy one.........a nice masculine name but Brodie took forever to find.................it was about a week before he was due & DH out of the blue came up with Brodie & we both agreed on it.

Now if I'd had a girl she was going to be NATASHA ELIZABETH ROSE.

Natasha is a lovely girls name Elizabeth was my Grandmothers name & Rose was the name of my dear Great Aunt who was like a Grandmother to me.
;)

I have Erin Shayne. She was SUPPOSED to be a boy named Aaron Shane. I do not remember were Aaron came from but Shane was after a boy that I had a crush on in 7th grade and I said I would name my first born after him.

Next came Jeffery Quinn. Jeffery after DH's brother Jeffrey (I misspelled my Jeffery's name--do not ask me to spell while I am on strong meds!). Quinn was brain stormed after many hours in the car.

Oh, BTW, Erin likes the Erin part--hates the Shayne. Jeffery hates the Jeffery part and goes by Quinn.

My sons name is Daniel Joseph. I wanted Martin if I had a boy and my EX (yep, see why he is my EX) didn't like it. So when I was on the table all conbobbled from not having anything for pain I just on the top of my head picked Daniel ( funny thing is I hated a guy named Daniel, I thought he was a tinkerbell) then his middle name is after his father cause he was adiment about having his name in there at some point. either way my son could be named stupid and I would love him as much as I do now. he is my world, now only if I could find a guy like him I would be all set. :D

Actually with the exception of my 1st DS's middle name ( which is my DH's name) both my boys names were picked because we liked the names and not after anyone in particular.

Their names are: Anthony Michael & Derrick James

My ooldest was going to be Zachary until I went in the hospital to have him (at 30 weeks, so I was put on strick bedrest). During the course of cooking him some more, DH told me didn't like the name Zachary -- nothing like waiting until the last minute. DH went to work looking throuh the baby name books to come up with something we'd both agree on. We never did although he picked Cameron out. Right after he was born, they asked if he had a name, and I said, "of course he does, it's Cameron".

With DS3, we decided on Walker. That's my mother's maiden name. There were no boys in her family to carry on the name and even though he won't pass it onto his children, it's still a family name.

When picking out names we immediately got rid of all the names of people we didn't like, so that narrowed it down pretty quickly, we seemed to have a couple good boy names but since that didn't occur, we named our oldest(Mandy Ellen) after Amanda's aunt that died of cancer, and Cassie was one of a few names we could agree upon...:)
btw---our boys names would of been Alex/ and or Noah.

My daughter's name was going to be Rebecca up until the month before she was born. I was a the mall and heard some mother yelling for her daughter, Rebecca. I just didn't like the way it sounded, LOL.

So my daughter became Bethany, a tribute of sorts to my mother, and middle name of Rose after the person who was like a mother to me for many years.

Cameron Austin- We knew way in advance if we had a boy it would be Cameron, named after Cam Neeley, former Boston Bruin. Austin I saw in a baby name book and loved it.

Colton Ryan- 3 years before he was born, I saw the name Colton on the Jenny Jones show(an episode about obese kids). I instantly fell in love with the name. DH hated it. Over the years, and during my pregnancy it grew on him. Until the delivery room we were debating on Colton or Dylan. I had gotten a lot of negative feedback on Colton, and wasnt sure we should use it. In the end, DH convinced me to go with Colton, and Ive never regretted it yet. I have no idea where we got Ryan. It just came up.

My son was named after my husband.

Middle daughter was a name we had picked out for my son if he was a girl. Not sure how we came up with it.

Last DD we went through the books and got rid of the names that were of people we didn't care for. Took a while but we narrowed it down to Megan. Her Middle name-Elizabeth- is a family name on both sides of the family.

My husband always said the kids names have to have screamability! We would joke around and scream out the names, as if we were calling them to come in the house. We eliminated a lot of names that we originally liked because we determined they didn't sound right when screamed.

My daughter was named from Candice Bergen's daughter Chloe.
Just liked the name and she is the only Chloe in her school.

Our son's name was a name I had picked out long before I met DH. My SIL almost named her 3rd son the same name but knew it wouldn't have stopped me, after our son was born the first thing she said was I was dang lucky it was a boy because if I hadn't used the name she would have been quite angry....

Luckily DH loved the name so no arguments.

We thought we were having a girl and could NOT arrive at a name we both agreed on... the poor thing would have probably gone home from the hospital nameless.

We don't have kids yet either (hopefully next year) but we do have names picked out:

First Boy - Carmen :o . I don't like it but DH promised his grandfather (on his deathbed) that he would name his first born son after him... How can I say no  . We compromised and his name will be Carmen Joseph (Joseph for my DH) and we will call him CJ. Part of the agreement was that I get to name all the rest of our kids ;)

Girls - We love Isabella but I think we will go with Jenna or Brenna. I am trying to think if I would like the name Isabella growing up and I don't think I would have.

DD Alaina Catherine - Alaina is MIL moms name and Catherine is My mothers name.

DS Sasha Alexander - is adopted and came to us with his name

If we both didn't like the name, we chucked it, no matter how much the other one liked it. We finally decided on Nicole, which we both liked and a few weeks before she was born DH said "are you sure we should name her Nicole"? He was the one that wanted it in the first place. So we got the books out again, and I think we narrowed it down to Jessica, Samantha or Stephanie. She was born and we still couldn't decide, those names just didn't seem like her and I sent the birth certificate lady away 5 times for 3 days. Finally while watching Father of the Bride II we looked over at DD who was sleeping in her basinett and said "MEGAN!" And the rest is history.

Moira was a name we heard and we just fell in love with. We knew that is what we wanted to name the baby if she was a girl. For a boy, we had chosen Gavin. Her middle name is Christine after daddy (Christopher). So she turned out Moira Christine.

Elliot was born and around for a 1/2 hour before we finally chose a name. We really liked Liam and Noel but we didn't like how they went with his middle name which was to be Kim (after Chris' sister who passed away in 99). So my mom suggested Elliot and we went with it. Elliot is Chris' middle name and we both liked it. So he turned out Elliot Kim.

That husband of mine got both kids named after him! ;)

I always knew I wanted to name a daughter Megan. Only around the time DD was born, (1985), there seemed to be a lot of girls being named Megan. While I was pregnant, I read the book "The Thornbirds" and saw how they spelled it there and that was it: Meghann. Her middle name is Elizabeth, which is my mother's name and my middle name.

DS was named after DH's father, Harry. Only I wanted something a little different, so he became Harrison. (Just don't try calling him "Harrison" -- you'll get a look to kill!! He's "Harry" through and through!!). Middle name is Joseph, after DH.

BTW, one year, there were five girls in DD's religious ed class. FOUR were "Megan" (with FOUR different spellings!!) and one was Maggie! Sheesh!!!!

I always knew I wanted a Jonathan, so oldest DS is Jonathan. We picked Jordan because we both liked it and could agree on it. DS #3 is Jared. My mom told us a friend of her's grandson was named Jared and DH really liked it. His middle name is William, after my dad, who died while I was pregnant with Jared. Youngest is Julian. We both liked the name, and DH wanted at least 1 of the boys to have a Hispanic name! LOL So, he's Julian Antonio. :teeth:

We didn't plan the J's, they were just the only names DH liked. He was very picky!

DS - David Allen
David because it was my grandfather and my cousin's name. It was also my OBGYN's name and the priest who married us. It really seemed to cover all the bases. Allen because it is DH's middle name.

DD - Amy Michelle
Amy because we both agreed to it. (We didn't settle on a name until after she was born. There were actually 3 names in the running and I felt like I had to see her first! Laura Elizabeth and Jennifer Lynne were the other choices.) Michelle because it is one of my favorite names and it couldn't be her first name. It sounds terrible with our last name! LOL!

Kerry Danielle...babysat a Kerry growing up, always loved it, wanted an Irish name..we went thru the baby books, I suggested, dh vetoed :p. NOW he claims HE thought of Kerry..hah! (red straight hair)

Erin Michelle....came to me almost immediately..told dh this is it, unless you come up with something. Michelle is my best friend's name and like the matching "lle" for middle names. (red curly hair)

Both were to be Colin Patrick if boys

Brianna Noelle was to be Lia Noelle and if boy Liam Patrick. When she was born, didn't look like a Lia. So dh went off with the cutie, I laid there thinking of names and thought of Brianna. When I saw my dh again, I told him and he said he was thinking the same! Then we took a week deciding Bri-anne-ah or Bri-ahn-a and chose Bri-anne-a (long blond/brown hair)

That's it though, we're done...no Fiona Gabrielle for me
