How Did This Happen??? Changed Dates - Great Rate AKL

I had originally wanted to go to WDW for Christmas this year, but then as usual, I was lured in by the free dining promo. Well, I ended up booking AKL for 9/15-9/22 on free dining.

My total package price was $2453.22.

I just went onto the WDW website to play around with some other options and decided to plug in my December dates again to remind myself of how much more it was going to cost - a lot of this is because of uncertainty about having to move from AKL in September if they are still moving guests... Well, lo and behold, for the same number of days, same tickets AND dining plan (but NOT free dining)...

My total package price is $2457.48.

The difference is like four bucks... how on earth did that happen??? Of course I booked it right away, now I'm hoping to sit back and see if there will be a discount code for my dates. There has been the last few years, so I've got my fingers crossed!!! Woo hoo!!! I feel like I've won the lottery or something.

WOW, that is a great price. I booked POP for 11/30 - 12/7 for $2365.00--standard room, 8 day park hopper for 2 adults/1 junior, and dining. AKL is a big upgrade for value POP. Did you reservations include tickets for how many and dining for how many? My son and husband would absolutely LOVE to stay at AKL. PM me with specifics if you can.

I actually just realized that the new reservation is the exact same price as my original dates, I'd forgotten that I started out with 7 day base tickets and added a day to both tickets, which is the $4 difference.

This is for 12/19 - 12/26 for 1A 1C (he's going to be 6 by then). Now that I look at my confirmation, I see that the new package says "Annual Product" under the "Special Rate Type" - so does my original w/free dining. Just for the heck of it, I just tried the same dates for a moderate and got almost the same price... maybe it's just a glitch for AKL on the reservation system (I think they just opened AKL up for new reservations on the WDW website because reservations were not available last week - I think they stopped allowing any reservations for some period of time because of the construction issues.) My suggestion is to try for AKL with your dates on the website and see what you come up with. We are booked in a standard room, 8 day base tickets, and dining plan. This is awesome!!!

I wonder if you really had free dining on the Sept reservation.....

Both time frames are during value season and if you drop the dining off the Dec vacation - the total drops down to $2100.00 something.

$24XX seems kinda high for you and one child 6 with free dining but I could be wrong we got 2 adults, 4yr and 13 yr old 7 day park hoppers with free dining for right around $2800.00 staying at CR for 6 nights

I am also wondering if you had free dining. I have free dining for 9/27 to 10/3 at the BC with a one day base ticket for three of us and a baby and it is $2500.

I just went on to check and the site is all goofy... First I got a price for five nites of $4500 something for two people. Then like $3,000 for one person then changed it to Wendi2000's dates exactly for one person, six day base tickets, and dining and got it for $2188. I booked and paid the deposit immediately - have my confirmation #.....

That WL quote, is for a courtyard view (more expensive room category), what is the room category that you booked at AKL, if it is standard, then you are not comparing apples to apples.

OMG, you guys are totally right... somehow, even though I used the Free Dining link on the website to book this trip, I was not given the free dining promo!!!

I just got off the phone with Disney... good thing I found the toll-free number on these boards because it took a while!!! hahaha

The first CM wasn't able to fix the problem, but she transferred me to guest services and I was taken care of. I actually was able to use the new discount code that is out and came out a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the free dining would've been anyway!!! yay... I had already tried to book the new code online and it wasn't available for my dates so I'm really happy that I called and was able to get the new code added to my existing reservation. My new package total is $1866.82 - that is a huge difference for me - almost $600!!! Wow.

So, thanks for all of the alerts, I wouldn't have known I got cheated out of my promo and was paying rack rate (which I would NEVER, EVER, EVER knowingly do!!!)

I am confused - not an uncommon state for me - are you going now in December or Sept? Is the new discount code something you have to ask for to be added? I just booked AKL for Dec 19 - 26th and it was considerably lower than WL - $21something for over Christmas which I though was great even for one person with dining, but if I could add a code to that it would be terrific!

Nope, the code is for September. It actually came out cheaper than just the free dining promo. ~Sorry~

I do think there will be a December discount probably coming out next month sometime, so keep an eye out for the code!!!

I'm really confused. I'm trying to book AKL for 12/22 thru 12/26 and I'm getting $2000. And that doesn't include dining or tickets. Am I missing a promotion or special date? Please help me.

MinnieSummer -Holiday season starts on 12/20 so your room rates jump from $215 a night for a standard room to $359 a night. 12/19 is the last day of value season so it would be a lower rate.
