How did POFQ do during Charley? Do they have generators when lose power?

I'm considering evacuating to Disney during the hurricane (it was easy to make reservations last night which surprised me since Labor day weekend). But I was starting to second guess it. Did they put up hurricane shutters at Disney? I'm thinking that aspect of my house might be safer to stay home but if power gets resorted quicker to the resorts, that could be a good reason to be there. Might be tough to be in a room where you can't open windows without power, though. Any thoughts or advice?

We were at CSR during Charley, had to leave Captiva Island vacation on Thursday and thought we would avoid Charley if we went to Orlando. We never lost power or TV signal. But be prepared with food. Everything was closed, parks at 1 and out on town by 3:00. The lines for the food court were out to the main lobby. Finally got ham and cheese sandwiches on hamburger buns from the little food store for $6.50 after waiting in a line for over an hour. My total bill for that and snack junk was $43.00. So if you are going there from home make sure you take food along. When we got there Charley was not suppose to come in that direction and we were not prepared. We had a corner room on the first floor and could not even tell there was a hurricane unless we opened our door, we felt very safe. When we left on Saturday to go to the port it looked like all of Orlando was without power. Good Luck!

Most likely Disney will not lose power. They didn't with Charley. Disney has their own underground power supply. With Charley almost everywhere else in Orange and Osceola were without power, but Disney never lost power. They do have a back-up power supply and then generators beyond that if needed, however they almost certainly will not. As far as shutters, they don't always do their job, whan it comes to a storm this size your safety is not in shutters but the construction of the building your in. That being said, I would go to Disney if I were you, after all that is what I am doing, I will be at Coronado Springs.

Was anyone from the boards at POFQ during Charley? Any flooding? I was thinking maybe a second floor request would be good..........??????

We evacuated from Tampa to AllStar Sports during Charlie.

We never lost power but food courts and pool closed early.

The resort supplied us with flashlights which were never needed. All in all the CM's at the resort made the best of a bad situation and we got through it.

I did notice that in the Magic Kingdom on Saturday after the storm, it seemed rather dark as if they were conserving power.
