How did I not know this?

So we have been to Disney more than ten times. Every time I am obsessed with planning, glued to this site, read the books etc.

But I never knew that the Plaza was a sit down restaurant and that you could make reservations to eat there. Not until I was puzzled by a reviewer mentioning she had reservations there.

Granted, in the past, we were all about non-character lunches at the castle and character dinners at Liberty tree, but I wonder what else I don't know.

Every time I saw the name Plaza restaurant I thought it was counter service.

Main street is my husband's absolute favorite thing at Disney and he was surprised to find out there is any restaurant attached to where he always stops for an ice cream sandwich.

And it's a great place to eat! Nice burgers and fantastic sundaes. :thumbsup2

But if you're on the dining plan it's much better to pay out of pocket for this place because it's fairly cheap too.

I didn't know about The Plaza for a long time either, but now it is a family favorite! With our TIW card, it costs the same as a CS meal for us! I have a reservation here for every day that we plan to be in MK on our next trip!

Yes, a good place indeed. Good portions at a teriffic price. In 2007, this was the only place we could eat at because we didn't have any ADRs (never needed them before that!!!) and it turned out to be a very good find.

We took our third WDW trip in May and just ate at the Plaza for the first time on this trip. I also had no idea on the previous trips that it was there. In fact when our ADR time was approaching, I had to look up on park map to figure out where it was.

I agree that it's not the best value if you're on the DDP as the meals are fairly inexpensive. We had dinner there on our first night and it was a good lighter meal for that first day where we were still feeling the effects of traveling. The place is not very big and I thought the service was somewhat slow but the food was good (sandwiches, ice cream, etc.) and it was in a good location right off of Main Street near the entrance to Tomorrowland. We wouldn't probably run back to eat there again on future trips but it was a nice place to try for a lighter meal.

I love the chicken and strawberry salad and the salad is HUGE!! It used to be easy to get a table here without a reservation (if you went by in the morning and set a time for lunch or dinner later that day) - although I don't know how free dining has affected this.

Was your first Disney exposure at Disneyland? Cuz the Plaza restaurant there is CS at lunch and dinner (though it's a character meal at breakfast) and, as a WDW person, I had the opposite confusion at first thinking that the Plaza there was actually a sitdown for all meals! :-)

You are not the only one! We discovered it last December during a downpour/tornado......everyone left the parks, but we went in and had a great lunch! It's one of our favorite places to eat! It's also fun to eat there during Spectro (you can sit facing the castle and watch the floats).

We love their reubens!

We love the Plaza! Great inexpensive restaurant. We always pay OOP even if we're on the DDP here, though, as pps mentioned.
We've never been during free dining, but I have seen them turn people away or tell them at noon to come back around 3:00ish.

Our first time eating there was during a MK downpour, we were seated right by the window, it was pretty neat. We loved the food and now it is our MK lunch stop!
