So the only TS places I've ever eaten at are 'Ohana and the Plaza, both great experiences. But since my in-laws gave us their DVC points hubby and I decided to splurge and get the DxDDP. Here's the ADR's I got. Tell me I'm not going to be disappointed.

Day 1

Lunch: Tony's (I wanted to do WCC but was outvoted since they want to get into the park and GO GO GO)

Dinner: Ohana (just in time to see the fireworks)

Day 2

Breakfast: H&V late breakfast

Dinner: Brown Derby, early dinner with Fantasmic Package

Day 3

Breakfast:Tusker house (Late breakfast)

Lunch: Yak and Yeti (Late lunch)

Dinner: Hoop Dee Doo (9:30 seating)

Day 4

Breakfast: Olivia's (we are staying at OKW)

Lunch: Plaza

Dinner: 1900 Park Fare

Day 5

Breakfast: Akershus

Lunch: Coral Reef

Dinner: Le Cellier

Day 6

Breakfast: Chef Mickey's

Lunch: Liberty Tree

Dinner: Grab a CS

Day 7

Breakfast: Olivia's

Lunch: CS at DTD

LEAVE :sad1:

Did I do OK or are we doomed?

Looks good overall. The only place on your list I would avoid is Tony's. Our last two visits there were sub-par at best. Perhaps consider a switch to Crystal Palace?

I'd love to, but it's going to be closed during our visit. That's why I wanted to go to the WCC and take the boat over the the MK, but I've been vetoed.

I supposed since I got everything else I wanted (with the exception of 50's prime time instead of H&V because there are no lunches available for the entire week we are staying there) I can suffer through one iffy meal. :lmao:

Hmm we ate there in June and the food was great.

We ate there in March and really enjoyed it...plus we were able to sit outside so we could watch the afternoon parade. We made another ADR there for our December trip around the same time as our March ADR so we could hopefully eat outside again.

We also made an ADR there for our upcoming Thanksgiving trip. I guess it's just a matter of tastes. Different people have different tastes.

That's most certainly true, especially when it comes to food. Also, restaurants have good and bad days. I guess we were unlucky enough to hit Tony's on bad days both times, but that was quite enough for us.

Day 5 if food intensive... I would drop breakfast and or lunch, use snack credits if you get hungry...

Use that credit and another from where ever and try one more signature restaurant.

Must admit I am jealous though, enjoy your trip.

I just can't see how people can eat that much food in one day and that much in one week. We always get the basic DP and that is enough food for us, and we are some eating fools. By the end of the trip I just don't want to look at food. This past trip out of 21 snack credits we had 13 left the night before we left and had to find stuff to use them on at the BWV. To me that is spending way to much time sitting down waiting on food when you can be spending it in the park (TJMO).

Sounds like busy trip. Tonys is ok in my experience, but not one you couldn't skip on and try something new.

Well, you have to realize that to some people (like my famly), part of the magic is the food. We also use meal times as our "downtime". Instead of going back to the resort, we do a leasurely meal and discuss what we've done and what we want to do. It's really no different than home, you're suposed to eat 3 meals a day. it just basically boils down to what you order.

We just stayed at OKW and went to Olivia's for lunch.
It was delicious.
I would say it had the best desserts of any Disney restaurant we had been to all week...namely the key lime tart and the banana bread pudding sundae.
The manager said everything was made fresh there each day!

Really try to work in a lunch there if you can!

Not sure I would be able to eat a sit down lunch after eating a full sit down breakfast.

3 sit down's a day is going to be so much food I can't even imagine. Plus it's going to take about 8 hours a day out of your schedule for travelling, waiting, and eating.

We just got back and had the basic dining plan. We had 4 adults. And had a lot of credits left. Luckily we had a condo booked off-property for 2 extra days. On our last day, we used 2 CS for lunch, 4 TS for dinner, and then still had 4 CS and 1 TS to use up so we went to WPE at night and got take out meals for the next day to take to the condo.

This is our exact plan.

We have 2 preschoolers who would NEVER be convinced to leave the park to take a nap to recharge, BUT If I stick dome food in front of them, let them sit down, unwind, etc. we can circumvent that down time.

Plus this is out first trip as a family and the ONLY way we;d be able to afford the Deluxe dining because his parents are paying for the lodging. So we are going to see what we like and don't like and if and when we come back I'll have a better idea of what will work for us with either OOP or the regular DP.

Wow--that's a lot of eating...sounds yummy! We tried Tony's a couple weeks ago and had a very good experience....Have fun!

By my count You are a family of 4, the DXDP will work nicely for you. We're a family of 5 and when we add it all up we get a significant savings.

Sounds to me like all you will be doing is sitting down to eat....it won't leave much time to do things in the park.

You have to allow at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours for a sit down meal....doing that 3 times a day??
Do you think you will be hungry enough to eat that many times??

It is a good downtime usually unless the kids are tired then they will act up instead of eating....eating somewhere that has lots for kids will help distract them.

we just got back with a 2 yr old and felt like all we were doing was eating...

he was tired of sitting to eat after around the 4th day....

just an idea of how it went for us...

I personally love the dining plan and can't wait to do it again without kids LOL

have fun

It's no different than families who leave for thier resort for 3 to 4 hours. At least this way, you are breaking the downtimes in segments and not in one lump sum. I know if I left to go rest in the room, it would be time dragging to get myself motivated to go back.
