How CRT made me cry at my anniversary dinner

We have only ever had good experiences at CRT, the food isn't great but the service has been terrific. Well, our dinner last week before the MNSSHP forever changed our perception of the place. I doubt we'll ever return.

First of all, the waiter was rude from the outset. Twice he stomped away while I was asking questions of the menu. He would answer the initial question and just ... leave while I was still asking the follow up.

He discouraged us from ordering the kids' meals ala carte ... wanted us to order the all-in-one thing that my kids will never go for when there isn't ice cream at the end of it. The appies arrived and he asked which of the two older kids was getting which one. I told him. He proceeded to put them in the wrong place. DH and I switched the plates without comment - no biggie - but the waiter said something to the effect of "You told me it was the other way around." in an unpleasant way. No, I didn't but whatever.

Next up, our main entrees. Now, bear in mind, we were dressed in costume for MNSSHP. we went as mouseketeers complete with personalized shirts and mouse ears. I ordered the shirts from Disney Store through Zazzle to the tune of $125. Our middle son is sitting next to DH. Our dear server passes my DH's pork chop over the head of the 5-year-old and slops him all over with the greasy pork chop sauce. It stretches down the front and back of his shirt, a GIANT dark brown stain. DH runs DS to the bathroom to work on it but there was no way that stain was coming out. He finds the manager and shows her. She brought him a mug of hot water and a washcloth but it was obvious the shirt was ruined.

She then walks over to me and plops down a merchandise certificate. Tells me you can buy him a new shirt. I said, "That is fine but what about our matching costumes? It's going to look great in pics with the giant brown stain!" She shrugged and walked away. No apologies. Waiter returns for our plates. Never says a single word about it. That makes me cry. I spent nearly $200 on MNSSHP tix plus the cost of the costumes, we were calling this our anniversary dinner with the kids ... and clearly they didn't give a crap that they put a huge damper on it. An accident, ok, even if that was really careless and unnecessary but to not acknowledge a mistake verbally is wrong. Yes, they gave us the merch certificate so we were compensated but I didn't need it since it did me no good. That arrogant dude made a pretty big tip since gratuity is automatically included and he didn't deserve a penny of it, IMO.

The capper: they had no record of the slipper dessert order my DH had placed. We didn't argue about it. We just ran out of the place as fast as we could. I had to find a corner to cry it out for a few minutes by myself. What a disaster.

MNSSHP helped save the day. It was great but we took no photopass pictures because of the state of my son's shirt. I didn't want the memory.

Oh, and the food wasn't good. Well, my 2-year-old liked my spring roll appetizer. The desserts, in particular, were a joke. A chocolate muffin? Really? The floor show was lame. I don't think my expectations were too high ... I figured the floor show would be lame, lol, but the whole thing was so absolutely disappointing.

I won't write reviews but we had the deluxe dining plan and this was the only bad service we had the entire 9 day trip. Everyone else was friendly and fabulous (even at HDDR, also an auto gratuity place!) and we had some truly stellar meals at Citricos and Jiko.

I am glad your trip other than that night was fabulous. That is so terrible...I can't believe that happened to you from not one CM but two. My family has also has not so dreamy experiences from CRT which is why for my honeymoon I am going to the dinner at 1900 Park Fair to see Cindy and the Prince. I really hope Disney gets their act together where this popular restaurant is concerned because it is truly unique inside. Happy Anniversary.:lovestruc

Wow what a crappy experience. Gotta love people who love their jobs. And I don't buy the "maybe they're having a bad day" suck it up - it's your job to answer questions and be polite if you can't get another job where you don't work with the public. trust me - i work with kids and just because their parent may be a pain in my backside doesn't mean i take it out on their child or the other kids.

go home and complain to your hubby wife pillow for all i care.

there is never any excuse and i'm sorry to hear about it.

by the way - where is CRT? i can't for the life of me pull it out

Cinderella's Royal Table, i.e., the castle at MK. A very beautiful dining atmosphere.

Just to clarify, I am just venting. We were compensated fairly and I am not writing this because I feel like we needed anything further other than an apology which would have made us feel a bit of goodwill.

So sorry to hear of your bad experience, I have never been to CRT and really have no desire. We did do 1900PF and thought it was one of the best meals of our trip! The characters were great too. maybe you could try it next time:goodvibes

Sorry that you had such a bad time. We are going for the first time next month but now I don't know if we should...:confused3

Happy belated Anniversary!!!:flower3:

Sorry you had a bad experience. Our dinner there in July wasnt that bad but i did notice a decline in service. We loved our dinner and servers in July 07 but our July 08 has also left me with no desire to return for a while.

My incident involved a misunderstanding about my dining plan. When I recieved my receipt at the end of the meal there were more credits missing than I expected- especially since this was our first night and our first meal- I questioned our server and he more or less said he had no control over it and I asked if he could ask somebody because I was confused. He sent over I guess a manager and the first words out of her mouth were- "Whats the problem?" in a little snippy tone..... well, there wasnt a problem per say but a misunderstanding. When I picked up my dinner show tickets on check in the credits for that meal was deducted at that time.... so there were my missing credits.... I did send Disney an email and got a very polite and thankful reply..... In my email, I told them I think that the manager could have said something like..... " I understand you have a question, How may I help you" instead of "whats the problem"......

As far as your son's shirt, have you tried baking soda and water. I know when we were at a Japanese place and I spilled sauce on my white shirt the hostess came over with a napkin and some soda and water and it took the stain right out.

Thank you... seriously! That is exactly what I think all the time!! IMHO very well said :thumbsup2

OP, I am sorry that happened to you; it should have been handled so much differently and I hope it didn't ruin the rest of your evening or your trip.

I'm so sorry that your meal at CRT went so badly, but really glad to hear you enjoyed the rest of your evening at MNSSHP.

I've read a lot of so-so reviews about CRT and for the life of me, I cannot understand why WDW doesn't do something about it. :sad2: Having a meal inside Cinderella Castle should be the most magical dining experience ever!

We've only had breakfast there once, but DD is desparate to go back, and reading reports like this one is what makes me put off booking another ADR there!

I'm so sorry about your bad experience. My first trip ever to Disney World was last September and I couldn't believe how rude some of the restaurant employees were! I mean, this is Disney!

sorry to hear you had sucj a horrible experience... i guess there are bad apples even in the "happiest place on earth" i know you stated you felt you were compensated fairly but if you remember the names fo the server and the manager i would send a email to disney or make a phone call, maybe a tlaking to will help save someone else's dinner
