How crowed will the first MNSSHP be in August?

Has anyone gone to the first Halloween party in August? How crowded was it? I’m hoping it will be less crowded compared to other MNSSHP’s because it so far from Halloween.

The very 1st party is typically VERY crowded because you have lots of bloggers and media that attend the event and want to get the story/pics out “first” of the newest merch, offerings, etc. I think it’s a better bet to attend another date in August or September, specifically midweek for relatively lower crowds.

I say “relatively” as a reminder because parties in general are NOT low crowd/low wait events anymore and you’ll often find the same level, if not worse than daytime MK crowds, but a Tuesday night party will often feel less crowded than a Friday night party.

Thank you that’s not what I wanted to hear. The first party is on a Thursday will that make any difference?

Not at all.
For a good idea of how crowded, or how to manage a crowded or sold out date do a search for 2019 MNSSHP thread on here so get some first hand experience and info.

I don’t want to over-generalize as obviously thousands of people go and have a good time, but people always tend to come away from the “first party” crying foul. Too hot, too crowded, bloggers everywhere, mega lines for the special treats and merchandise, never again, etc.

Happens without fail every year on the MNSSHP thread. Lots of excitement and enthusiasm for the first party - then first reports come in and the mood sours.

We’ve been to several opening parties. It’s crowded, even if it’s not sold out. We go and love it! But it’s not something I recommend any more, because my threshold for crowds must be different from others.

If you do decide to go, expect the crowds. But it’s the rainy weather you need to worry about.

There have been issues in the past where the bloggers get special treatment. They got a special area roped off to film the fireworks. They got to use the FP line for rides with special effects causing the wait time for regular guests to be longer. If that's the only day you can go, it's still worth checking out but pack your patience. There will be people filming all over.

Thank you for the info. We have gone a few years ago so we may just skip it. We leave 2 days after that so that would be the only one we could go to.

Yes I remember reading some of those reports.

So are the wait times for rides long even at the first party? That’s what I’m interested in lol

And beyond the bloggers are the folks clamoring to get their hands on the exclusive merchandise, too. I'd definitely avoid the first night if possible.

Just FYI, there are some sites that are not allowed to be linked/mentioned on DISBoards. If a website/blog site link is filtered when posted on the DIS, it is not allowed and may be removed. Thanks to all for their cooperation.

Sorry about that. I tried to post a link where I saw the dates. That must be why I was having so much trouble. I thought since it was a Disney related site it would be alright.

We have gone to the last two years (first parties 2018 and 2019). Thought it was crowded in 2018. So, yes we tried second time, thinking it was a fluke. Needless to say, we won't be doing the Halloween party again. Way too hot, humid, crowded and both parties it rained (poured). Meet and greet as well as parades were postponed or cancelled due to weather. No refunds unless Disney cancels whole party. If you go,make sure you are flexible with what you have planned. We were very disappointed. (Cost almost $300 times 2 years) $600. I feel like for a bag of candy!!!

Can you explain what it means when you say "if a website/blog site link is filtered..."? Or please send a quick message? Thank you!

The boards have filtering software that will block out URLs and some website names that are not permitted. If you type one, it will show up like this once you hit post: www.wdwnt.com

Some website / blog names themselves aren’t filtered, like in the case where the name might be a series of commonly used words, which makes filtering impractical (it would filter out all sorts of normal usage).

Hope that helps!
