Our family me( DW) DH, DS(4) and DD(6) is staying at POR from 5/14-5/21. We originally chose the month of May because it is historically less crowded. Now I'm hearing that the place is supposed to be mobbed during the time we are staying. Has anyone got any reliable information?

No one knows for sure how crowded it will be. Kids will be in school and a lot of people don't even know about the 50th celebration. I'm not worried about it.

Well I live in Kissimmee and actually I think most high schools in FL will be out by then, so it could be kind of crowded. Overall though it shouldn't be cause most parents want their kids to finish out the school year.

I have to find the link to it but on the "Unofficial Guide's" website, they have a "projected" number for the crowds on each DAY for the parks. It's on a sliding scale from 1 -10 with 10 being worst/most crowded. We'll be at CBR from 5/18 to 5/22 and all the days we're there are labeled as a 3 (for what that's worth)!

What I CAN tell you is that the reason we are going down is because my DH is attending a conference at the Wyndham in DTD. It's a HUGE conference - they sold out the Wyndham and are working on selling out the Hilton as well. A lot of people have tacked a vacation onto the conference (which runs from 5/22 - 5/25) since the prices for tickets are good at the conference rate and room specials were offered as well (for the two above hotels).

So don't know how many conferences are occuring at that time, but I know this one is a biggie.

We just returned from an 8 day stay last night. We have gone during the last week of April every year since 1996, and the crowd levels this year were higher than we have ever seen them. I firmly believe it is a result of the very heavy advertising campaign that Disney has been running regarding MYW plans, in particular the "$1500 for family of four" ads.

We always chose the end of April because the crowds were manageable--we probably will rethink that next year. Our trip was not one of our better ones, simply because of the crowd levels this year.

Don't forget to check the crowd blog on the home page of touringplans.com; it's in the lower right corner of the bottom of the screen. Len had predicted crowds at a possible 8 for the few couple of weeks of May. I haven't been back lately to see if anything has changed, but I think Len was supposed to update it very soon. I'm hoping for nothing more than level 5 or 6, but I think that may be pushing it!

The information I got was from Touring plans.com. If you scroll down the page to the bottom right and click on Blog Report it will tell you that the park ratings have been recalculated and they have increased the number rating. You do not have to have a a subscription to acess this this information. This is our first trip and we went in May because historically crowds have not been too bad. With our kids being younger we thought less crowds would be much easier. I went on the WDW reservations and it doesn't seem like there is too many rooms left for Mid-May-was just curious as we obviously already have our room. If I had known I never would have booked a trip for May.

We are going May 22-28. I am not really going to be worried about crowds based on I just switched a lot of PS's around and they still had plenty of availability at numerous times. I got what I wanted. So I am crossing my fingers it won't be a mob.
