I am trying to decide when to go to Disney next year. I was thinking about heading down the Friday after Thanksgiving for 5 nights or so. But, if the crowds were horrible, I may have to re-think my strategy.

Thanks for your comments!

:wave2: This is the BEST time of year to go.

WDW begins decorating for the holidays then and it is beautiful. Low crowds since Thanksgiving break is over for the schools, and people are generally recovering from one holiday getting ready to go into others.

Traditionally this is a very low attendance time of year, although it has been getting a little more crowded as people learn to go then.

Enjoy!

We just got back last night. I was at the parks Friday and Saturday after T'giving and also yesterday and two days ago. I would say it was very crowded both weekends. Mid week was better. Especially Tuesday when it poured.

We just got back from our trip (Dec. 1-4), and I agree that it was busy on Friday and Saturday. We thought we would go to MK on Saturday night (yesterday) since they were open later, and it was PACKED. I think there was a 45 minute wait for Peter Pan and a 65 minute wait for Pooh. I was surprised, since I'd heard that this time of the year would be slow.

We arrived the sun. after thanksgiving. This was our lst trip this time of year. I would say it was more packed than I expected. We went to mgm and after checking in at hollywood and vine they told us they were overbooked and we would have to probably wait 40 min. afte our adr time. Not a good sign and start to the vacation and the lst fantasmic was full etc. Busses and boats were standing room only alot of times. If you plan well you will have a good time. We took advantage of the evening extra magic hours, sorry my 3 ds teens like to sleep late, but it worked out well for us. We saw mostly all we wanted to.

Arrived at MK on Sunday after Thanksgiving for the opening ceremony. It looked like it was going to be really busy as people were pouring into the park. Once inside however, it turned out to be a great day with little or minimal waits. Rode everything we wanted to and were out of there by 3 PM. Great day.
The rest of the week was great except for Friday at Epcot, which was crawling in youth groups (presumably for the following week's Pop Warner competition.

We just returned yesterday. Went to MGM on the Sat after and it was ok not walk ons but not packed. On the SUnday after, EPCOT was wonderful. Again not walk ons but very nice. Monday at the MK was another story - wall to wall people. It even rained and it was still packed. Acxtually, not packed compared to Summer crowds I am sure but packed according to what we expected for after Thanmksgiving. Peter Pan ran out of FastPasses and Small world had a 30 min wait, if that is any help. Tuesday was much better and the rest of the week was good. The crowds were low but I think we will still opt for going in January from now on. Glad we went and saw the Christmas stuff but we enjoyed our January visit more because the crowds were that much lower.

My sis and family went the Saturday, Sunday and Monday after Thanksgiving this year.

They went to MK on Sat, AK on Sund and MGM on Mond. She said that the crowds weren't bad. I know she said that at MK, the longest they waited for anything was about 20 minutes. She said that the rest of the places weren't bad either.

**Note: she picked days that were NOT Extra Magic Hours.

(** I am leaving tomorrow for WDW!!! WOO HOO!!)

Thanks so much for your responses.

I think we are going to give it a try!

Thanks again!

We were there this year from Thanksgiving day through Saturday 12/3. It was packed Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It really started to empty out on Sunday.

We were there from 11/25-12/3. Our first park was on Sunday after Thanksgiving and we did AK. It was great. Walked onto most everything. Waited maybe 5 mins for Safari and maybe 10mins for Primevil Whirl. Walked onto Dinasour, Bugs Life and Kali. Saw Lion King and Tarzan with no wait. Went to Mk on Monday and I didnt experience crowds like previous poster. Our only long wait was about 20-25 mins for Buzz. Rode it again with no wait. Waited about 15 mins for SM and 10 for BMTR and Splash. We walked through the lands without bumper to bumper people except for Fantasyland where it was a bit more crowded. We did use fastpass for peter pan and got fast passes for BMTR and Splash and SM just in case lines formed. No need- lines just werent there. We had light crowds each day during the week until Friday in EPCOT. WOW, that place was jam packed. We headed straight to Soarin and got a fast pass then got in line and waited maybe 20 mins. Got off and rode Living with the Land and got right back on Soarin with our fast pass. Also rode it one more time that evening with another fast pass and the standby line was 70 mins. Rode test track twice also. Got a fast pass before getting on and rode it once in the standby line (20 min wait) and got back on with our fast pass afterward. 5 min. wait for MS. Later in the day though it was very crowded. We did all these rides first thing in the morning. We felt this was a great time to go. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
