Hi all -new to the DISboards but not new to Disney. I'm looking to plan a trip to WDW for my boys' birthdays. DS1 pirate: and DS2 :earsboy: share the same bday and DS2 turns 1 over MLK weekend 09. I'd love to celebrate their first shared bday in WDW. We went in 07 during the 3rd week in April and would love for it to be less crowded this trip. We can push the trip into Feb if MLK weekend is looking to be too crowded!!

TIA for your replies!!

We usually go the last week of Jan., when it is not crowded at all. This year, we went Sun/Mon. MLK weekend as well as the rest of that week. It was definitely more crowded than our previous trips, but certainly manageable. I don't know how it compares to April. My guess is that the very beginning of Feb. might be pretty good, but I know you want to avoid President's week.

In 2005, we arrived at MK on the Sat before MLK and flew home the following Sunday. The only time we had long lines, was at MK on the monday that was MLK day. We took the monorail over to Epcot and the rest of the day was nice there. So, I don't recommend MK on that Monday.

The weather was cold in the mornings (high 30's low 40's) but by 10am it was in 60's -70's. Then it cooled off a night again. We did the EMH and bundled up the kids. It worked very well.

We went this last Jan over MLK weekend. Actually we were there the whole week. There were several other things going on in WDW that week (i think a soccor and dance thing). Also there was some kind of Band thing going on. Because on of the days on the weekend it seemed like there was a marching band ever half hour on MainSt. My DD , kept saying WHAT another Parade? It was kind of funny. Even with all of that... we had basically no wait for anything on the weekend. For the rides I think our longest wait was 10 mins. For some of the characters there was an hour wait, but the CM said it's always like that.

Now go ahead a few days to the middle of the week and still NO lines for rides, less people and we ever managed a 5 min what for the Princesses meet and greet (not sure how we did that one). But over all for the whole week... very little crowds.

Thanks y'all! Now all I have to do is wait for dh's boss to pick his vacation week before we can finalize ours. I've already found some great airfare $174/person!
