Could you please help me to get an idea of what kinds of crowds to expect in July.

My family and I have been twice both during value season. The week before Christmas to be exact. There are virtually "no" crowds during this time so I'm getting ready for a rude awakening. Am I right?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well it really depends on the time of the month. I have only visited during the last two weeks of July and the crowds were more than December but very managable, plus the parks are open late. Having visited at different times of the year I really liked July and am planning our trip during the same time frame this year.

Leading up to the 4th the crowds are large.

Be prepared for the heat! It is hot and muggy!

We have gone the last two July's and will be going this July as well. It will definitely more crowded than when you visited before Christmas. We have been at WDW for the Christmas/New Years season. It is by no means as crowded as that in July (except 4th of July time), but there will be lines for sure. We have used Fast Pass avoiding the ~ 2 hour waits at the popular attractions. It also gets pretty hot, so make sure you plan a pool/water park break each day. We had a group of 12 (with 8 WDW "virgins") go last July. I was the official trip planner and did a loose itinerary for each day. My BIL couldn't understand why I had pool/water park each day. Once we were there a few days he understood. My 6 yo niece learned to swim while at WDW and they had to drag her pruny body from the pool each day!

It has always been hotter back home than it is at WDW when we go. I'd rather be hot at WDW on vacation than hot at home at work! Our son is in 8th grade, so we can't take him out of school as easily anymore (although he did miss two days before Christmas break for a last minute week long getaway with me staying at Pop Century using that great $49 AP rate!!) so we adjust our vacation schedule to his school schedule.

As long as you don't have any unrealistic expectations about how much you will see/do each day, I think you'll be fine. Afternoon breaks are a good idea. Many of the parks are open late ( 9 or 10) each night so you can head back out in the evening after you've rested. Something that has ALWAYS worked for us is to avoid the EMH park of the day. Granted, our son is 14 so characters and "kiddie" rides (Dumbo, Peter Pan, etc) aren't a big deal to him . These parks always seem to be very crowded all day long. If you have young children and want to use EMH, I would say leave that park as soon as you have done your "must do" rides.

I'm sure you'll have a great time whenever you go!!

We always go in early July and NEVER forget your rain ponchos.
There's usually a major downpour (quick but intense) at some Park each day and those are lifesavers. They really clear the Park and once the sun comes out, it's just us veterans left!!
We take ones from home so as to not become one of the "sea of yellow".

We go every July (usually over the 4th) and love this time period. The parks have extended hours which makes up (usually) for the larger crowds. We go for 11 days, so we have the luxury of taking our time. If you stay on property, take advantage of E-Ride nights and you'll practically have the MK to yourself. Also, it depends when in July you go. The crowds are always largest over the 4th then seem to thin out. The week leading up to the 4th is packed. Take your time and have a great time!

We went the last two weeks of July this past year. We have also been in May, June, July, August, October, and December, over Christmas. July was the most crowded I had ever seen it. The crowds were worse than over Christmas. I hope to neve again go during July. Granted, I was going through a rough patch of time with work and such, so that may color my opinion.

VelvetGloves you and I were there at the same time. It just goes to show that what is crowded for one person isn't for another.

Bobcat, I agree. When we there this past December, there were days that it was much more crowded than in July and we were there from 12/12 - 12/16.
