We are looking at date and wondered about May 24-29th, however Memorial day is on the 27th and we are wondering how busy it is around that time?

Anytime there is a national holiday, the crowds get fairly large. In the past I have found that especially true for the beginning of summer.

With a good plan and patience, you'll still have a great time!

We made the mistake of getting married on Memorial day so any time we want to get away for our anniversary it is busy and expensive no matter where we go....Disneyland has followed that trend. It is busy, but generally managable.

We went for Memorial Day several years ago and I would never do that again. It was worse than Christmas and the only time I've ever been in the parks when they closed to returning guests as well as new arrivals.

I was at the DLR last Memorial Day weekend from Sunday through Tuesday. I didn't think it was that bad, I did a little write up here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2734540

Nowhere near as bad as NYE and at no time was the park closed due to capacity issues last Memorial Day weekend. And last year had the added draw of AP previews for ST and Little Mermaid during the time I was there.

Since it is a holiday, it will be busy. But with a solid touring plan you should be fine.

So do you think the crowds would be worse on Spring Break or around Memorial day?

Honestly, not sure there will be a huge difference. Perhaps slightly more crowded during spring break, just because more people have more time off. But I don't think it will be a huge difference between a holiday weekend and spring break.

I have been during spring break several times the week before Easter, the week after Easter, once during spring break 2 weeks before Easter (2007) and once during Memorial Day weekend (2008). Memorial Day weekend was definitely better than either of the weeks surrounding Easter but maybe a little busier than the other spring break visit. I also thought Memorial Day felt busier than Martin Luther King weekend but less busy than President's Day weekend. I think past crowd experiences though aren't necessarily as good a predictor of future visits as they used to be with the changing crowd patterns at the resort with the new DCA. I would still expect Memorial Day to be as busy or busier than a typical summer weekend but not Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Eve busy.
