How Crowded is Evening EMH

Hi All,

How crowded are the parks during the evening EMH? Is it worth it, or would you be better off at another park?

We are going in June.

We did the Evening Magic Hour at MK on 5/11, and at Epcot on 5/12.

MK was crowded early, but quickly thinned and we were able to hit most things with a small wait. Probably 5 - 10 minutes in the most extreme cases. This was perceived as a plus since many of the same rides earlier had extreme wait times of up to 70 minutes, which we refused to do.

At Epcot, we decided to do this at the last minute, so after the fireworks, we took the kids over to Imagination (no wait), and then we quickly went into the Living Seas to find the penny press machine. If you've ever suspected that the hydrolaters are faking it, there is no doubt about their functionality during EMH... We then decided to see Turtle Talk while we there. It was a much bigger line to wait than we had seen during the normal daytime, but we made it into the next show. After all this time, we figured we could take in a quick Soarin' event, but by this time it was after 11 already, and the pavilion seemed to be packed judging from the amount of people still pouring into the building, and the number of strollers outside. The only time we did Soarin' was at an Early morning session. I haven't seen that place so busy since 1985.... We decided to leave since we hadn't prepared the kids for the evening...

We did the emh at MGM back in April, and we were really disappointed in how it went. We skipped Fantasmic that night so that we would ride rides, but the line for RnR that was posted for 45 minutes, had to have been close to 2 hours!!! We waited almost 45 minutes in the line outside before we decided to forget it (and the bathroom was calling....) It seemed that MGM didn't have enough attractions still going to make a difference....I think the morning hours are better....

We were there from May 4-10 and found that the evening EMH were more crowded than other times of the day. We ended up skipping the evening EMH b/c it just seemed like everyone showed up for them.

I'm wondering...maybe evening hours will be more crowded and mornings less because most people don't like to get up early while on vacation? Maybe this could work for me?! ;)

Just got back. Did AK, Epcot, and MK evening EMH.

AK - Tues 5/17
This was the best EMH out of the ones we did. It wasn't crowded. You could walk on the safari with absolutely no wait. It seemed the park went from super crowded during the entire day to hardly anyone there. So many guides said don't go to Evening EMH at AK , but IMO it's the best.

MK - Wed 5/18
It was just as crowded in Tomorrowland and Fantasyland as it was during the Saturday afternoon we went. Maybe just slightly less.

Epcot - Thur 5/19
Very crowded...I think it's better to do FW during the day unless you didn't have time.

We were there at the same time as marriedmarylander. We did the May 18 evening EMH at MK and it was packed relatively speaking. Part of problem may have been that space mountain was down part of the time. Likewise, on May 19, we were leaving EPCOT as the extra hours were starting and people were coming in droves. We didn't go to AK, but friends did and said it was just the opposite. For example, friend and his son were the only 2 people on Dinosaur for their ride.

My perspective may be a bit skewed because crowds were GREAT during the days. We walked on to Mission Space with literally zero wait at about 10:00 on one day. We also walked onto Rockin Roller Coaster with no wait-I think our fastpasses actually cost us time because there was so little line in the regular line. Overall, other than the late EMH, I don't think we waited in a line that was posted over 10 minutes (and it seemed like those that were posted were much less than that). Part of it was going early, part of it was using Fastpasses wisely, but a large part of it was the crowds.

Just got back yesterday. Definitely do morning EMHs. We were able to to Soarin and Test Track easily. We went back for evening EMH and it was very crowded at 11:00 p.m. there was a 60 min. wait. We just did Living with the land. If you go to evening EMH just do the ride you really must do and expect to wait.

(I've posted this at the restaurant forum and haven't got an answer yet)

Where can you eat at AK during evening EMH? Is it just Rainforest Cafe?
Thanks :)

Also just got back. We did EMH at MK, MGM, and Epcot. No problem with MK or MGM with lines. Able to get on all the attractions with miminum waiting. However, EPCOT was a different story. With the limited attractions open there was not enough CMs to open the attractions completely. So Soarin only had one side working and The Land had miminimal boats running thus long lines for both of these attractions. So we only did Spaceship Earth, Soarin and The Land during the time. I would do MK and MGM again, but not Epcot. During the day had miminal waits at Epcot compared to long lines at EMH.

Cool I may have saw some of you guys there at EMH :) I didn't know Space Mt was down part of the time. We waited 30 minutes around 10:30 or so. Stitch line was about 15 min. We were able to do Philharmagic, Small World, and BTMRR with no wait during the 11 PM hour. I also didn't know at Epcot part of Soarin'was down ..but still the day time stand by line even though posted at 55 minutes did not look like it would take that long - we had to stand outside the thing for 15 minutes so we can get in for FP but the stand by line looked like it would have taken 15-30 minutes. So we kinda wasted some time with this as well.

We did Rainforest Cafe which was fine. We were exhausted and wound up there. At least it's convenient. :)

When we did MK EMH it was strange the park was crowded but the lines moved quickly. Small World was fine. We did Philharmagic, Haunted House, Big Thunder RR 2xs (love that little crazy train), Country Bear Jamboree the last thing we did was practically empty. It was just DH and I waiting for the next show. Finally four people showed up before it began. We were chatting with the Cast Members that was one evening EMH we enjoyed. :hyper2:
