How crazy will the drive be down to WDW on Holy Thursday, Good Friday?

We are driving down from North Carolina the end of this week. My husband and I are deliberating when to leave. We made it at Christmas in 11.5 hours, 10 hours back on Christmas Day.

Right now we are planning on getting up early Friday morning and driving straight, but now we are wondering if we should drive half way Thursday after school.

Will there be more traffic on I95 Thursday night or Friday mid-day (since Friday is a holiday). I don't want the 10-12 hour trip turning into a 15-17 hour one.

If we did break up the trip (we have a 3 and 5 year old) we were planning a night in Brunwick.

I talked to a friend over the weekend who was driving from South Fl to the mid Atlantic area. she said the south bound lanes of I95 were quite crowded Saturday. We agreed that a lot of cars were heading South for the Easter break.

We drove south on I95 a few years ago heading to WDW. It was the Friday after Easter. We rarely make a hotel reservation. It took us awhile on that trip to find a hotel. WE found a Best Inn which turned out to be the worst Inn.

We just came back from a quick trip to FL (no WDW :) ). We tried to stop in Richmond Hills, GA, but the Hampton Inn said no vacancy. They are close to Fort Stewart, GA & had a lot of military families staying there.

So if you leave after school/work Thursday, I would suggest you make a reservation if you plan to stop overnight.
