How crazy is Columbus Day weekend?

What are the crowds like on Columbus Day weekend?

We'd like to attend the MNSSHP on October 9 (Friday) which is listed as a premium date. Allearsnet has this time listed as "more moderate attendance."

Will it be completely nuts? I'm used to going in mid-September/Mid-December when the crowds are pretty low.

We went last year from the Fri.-the Mon. (actual Columbus Day) of that weekend.

Did not do MNSSHP, but I can tell you that I would describe it as moderately crowded--I've never been in Summer, but I'm sure it's much worse, but I've been in early-Dec. and early-Jan., and they were much better.

The Friday at MK was much more crowded than the Monday (the actual holiday), when we went BACK to MK. We rode a bunch of stuff in the few hours before we had to leave for the airport!

I've been the past 3 Columbus Day weekends, and I'm going back this Oct. It is crowded but doable. I've always attended the MNSSHP on the Friday. I've never had a problem with seeing everything I've wanted, rode everything, and got tons of candy . I usually get to the MK around 4-4:30. It is my favorite time of year to go because the F&W Festival is also going on
