Our son's 7th birthday has come and gone and no one called. Not even his grand parents! Can you believe it:confused: . Well, he had a great time and we made it special for him anyway.

We just wanted to vent:(

monday was my birthday and my mom called to ask us to go to drugstore for her and never mentioned my birthday??????????? can not believe where some peoples minds are. Derinda:( :( :(

I don't know why, but my Mom has a kind of mental block about my youngest, she always thinks its 2 days earlier than it is. She has her dates mixed up.

My family automatically gets reminded because I usually tell them what we have planned etc. Have you mentioned it to them?

Happy Birthday to your little guy!

That stinks. I hope he had a great B-day anyways.

Happy Birthday!!!:Pinkbounc

Looks like you need to start reminding everyone.
You could send a list of what he wants. Seven is too
young to ignore a birthday. My parents are always
disappointing me too. I have to lead them along.

Well, Teejay32, at least its a day early intead of late! Better for a child to be surprised early than disappointed late.

My FIL always wants us to make a big deal on his BDay but never remembers any of ours, even his own son's. I also remind them about the kids. He has asked me repeatedly to write them down but never keeps the paper. He has also forgotten surgeries and even our DS's name. Our children are his only grand children, so its not like he has lots to remember.

This has gone on for years and it is not Alzheimer's. It's plain 'ole selfishness.

My in-laws have never acknolwedged either of my kids birthday. One time I mentioned it to her when she called on my son's birthday, and she said that she has 35 grandchildren, and she can't be expected to remember them all. :( Like she can't write them down on a piece of paper or something???

Happy Birthday to your son.

My Dad always forgets DS's birthday even though it is only 10 days before his wedding anniversary.

Happy Birthday to your son. :)

I guess we have been very fortunate.

Yep it happens.. My own sister forgot my daughters birthday, and even stood us up for her party!

It is selfishness, pure plain and simple.

And as one who personally has a birthday on or near a holiday (Thanksgiving) it has happened to me as well.

My mom and dad forgot my birthday several years back. It hurt a little, but it was also really funny (I was an adult).

I can't answer because I do not know what the situation is, but I do know how important birthdays are for little ones, and also big too. It could be she just forgot. Sometimes age does this to you. I know it doesn't help ease the pain of being forgotten.

My grandchildren are a very special part of my life. If I were to forget a birthday it would be because something is wrong. I don't know if she's a person who forgets frequently or not, if she's the kind of person who always remembers I would check on her, something could be going on to cause forgetfulness.

I can totally relate. MIL and SIL always seem to neglect my 3 DD's birthday.

SIL actually has acknowledge one Dd and not the others.

I always carry an extra $20. when DD's are celebrating their birthday in case they ask where MIL/SIL are. I pull out the mney and say they sent this. (Only had to do it once!!)

Happy Bday to your son!

HAPPY 7th BIRTHDAY TO YOUR DS!!!!!
It's a shame that your son's grandparents forgot his bday but it's a good thing he has such terrific parents to make his bday & every other day special!!

Happy Birthday to your son. If the grandparents are really forgetting, you might try what we tried. Every Christmas they receive a wall calendar with all the family important dates written in (by me!). It worked well for us. Sometimes our older, retired family members aren't being selfish, but since they are retired they don't always keep up with the passing of the days (my mother says everyday's a Saturday!).
