DD will be turning 9 in October. We moved to SC from IL in June 2005. She has been so great about the move so far away from all of her cousins, grandparents and aunts. She misses them very much though. We have had the opportunity to get together a couple of times since the move.

Well my sister called us not too long ago and wanted to plan a quick trip to WDW as the airfare was cheap. Since then we all have devised a plan to surprise our DD with #1 the trip to WDW #2 Her aunt, uncle, and cousins showing up, #3 her grandparents coming the last day to return to our home for one week.

Just the other day I asked her what her one wish would be if she could celebrate her birthday anyway she wanted. She said "I would go to Illinois to be with everyone there". When I asked her next best wish she said "To have them come to visit me" YEAH!!!! I am so excited. This will be better than all the presents she can unwrap! :cool1:  :cool1:

WOW, That is so nice. Your post made me tear up! Have a magical trip! :tink:

That's wonderful!! I hope it's a birthday she'll always remember!

that's going to be a wicked awesome birthday present!! :bday:

She is going to be so surprised. I always wanted to do a surprise trip. I'm just to chatty and could never keep the secret. Let us know how it goes.

I will post after the trip to let everyone know how it went. The challange now is that at one point we had talked about going to WDW around her b-day, just the 4 of us. Even asked the teacher about taking days off of school. We haven't really talked with her about it since. Next week we will need to get any homework that needs to be done. DH is thinking about telling her that we are going to Jacksonville FL instead of WDW and that we will be gone an extra school day. (Not too much of a fib because we will be staying overnight in J-ville on our way down...and she will miss school and need to make up the work). I just don't think our prior talk of going to WDW is even on her radar anymore. I know for a fact she has no clue about the rest of the family meeting us down there!

That is so exciting! I would love to see her face when she realizes where she is going. (and who will be there!)

How fun!!!!! Good job, mom!!!:thumbsup2

How are you going to arrange the actual surprise of her seeing that the rest of the family is there? Are you meeting in a specific place? I bet there's be some great suggestions from other DISers on how to surprise her! :cool1:

We will be arriving fairly early on Sat. Probably will visit the parks for awhile before we can check into the room. My sister and her family will not be in until much later than us. Probably won't be to the resort until after 10pm. My sister had thought about just "bumping into" each other at the food court. I think no matter how we do it DD will be beside herself with excitement.
