After having the same phones for 5 years, Dh and I finally upgraded to newer phones last year. We had been paying month to month, but to get the upgrade, we had to sign a 2 year contract. We shopped around first, and saw that nobody could beat T-Mobile's price plan. (we were grandfathered into a plan they no longer offer) So, we signed the contract and got new modern phones.

Yesterday, my phone shut itself off after I turned it on. Thinking the battery was dead, I plugged it in overnight. This morning, I turned it on, and it immediately shut off. Dh tried his phone and it does the exact same thing! He thought I may have forgot to pay the bill, but I paid it on March 15th. So I called T-Mobile, and they informed me that my warranty ran out March 23rd. HOW CONVENIENT. His trouble shooting guide told him it is a battery problem, but the warranty was out.

This is BULL. Why would BOTH phones be doing the EXACT same thing on the exact same day? I am assuming Dh had no phone yesterday, because whenever I tried calling him, it went right to voicemail, like it was off. He was not aware his phone was off. It seems like if it is a battery problem, then they were programmed to "die" right after the warranty ran out. It is just too odd to me that BOTH phones would have the same problem.

I tried to keep my cool on the phone. i finally told him i was going to bring both phones to a T-Mobile store, he obviously could not help me over the phone.

I am NOT upgrading to another phone after only a YEAR. This is CRAP. I am not buying a new battery for BOTH phone either. Something is not right here.

Take them into the store. The stores have always helped me out, and the warranty has never come up.

I once had this happen with a phone with an old SIM card that kept wiggling out. Guy gave me a new SIM card and also transferred the info for me with a device that looked like a solar powered cheapie calculator (obviously wasn't one, just looked like it).

If your SIM cards are that old, that might be the issue for you guys.

Good luck.

But don't you think it is more than a little strange that BOTH phones are malfunctioning the same way, at the same time?

If its a sim card issue, it sounds corect.

Your phone is just a little computer, they do software upgrades all the time. and your old cards may have not liked the last upgrades. Thats why I'm thinking its a simcard problem.
