How comfortable are the beds at Aulani?

Hello! I was searching on TripAdvisor for some new luau reviews and saw a few times that people complained about the mattresses being hard. Can any of you please let me know what your thoughts are?

We've stayed twice and never had an issue with the beds. However, we have only stayed in DVC villas, so I'm not sure if there is a difference in beds on the hotel side.

They are hard as rocks. We like a firm mattress, but those are HARD. My husband was just glad the bed wasn't moving (after 7 nights on a cruise ship) and I can sleep anywhere, so we were still fine.

Also as others have mentioned, we like to sleep with the fan on, so we needed a blanket, which mousekeeping brought right away. It wasn't a very "nice" blanket, but it worked.

Our first DVC Villa stay 3 years ago the bed was rock hard. So bad I slept on the thin uncomfortable pull out. 2nd year the DVC Villa mattress was fine. Last year we stayed in a room with a king bed and it was fine. I am hoping they are now broken in a little for our future trips.

We've stayed at Aulani 4 times now and find the beds very comfortable.

Oh thank you everyone! We are staying in a 1 bedroom villa. I pray the bed is comfortable especially for what we are paying.

We are here now in a DVC studio. I find the bed comfortable. I would say it's on the firmer side but not like a rock. Pillows are fluffy. But there are only two sheets on the bed with no comforter in between. There was one blanket in the ottoman with ONE pillow which we gave to our daughter on the pull out. The decor is unique to Hawaii. We are staying on points, but if I had to pay $400+ a night I would not be impressed. We had a towel change at the 4 day mark and I have had to call for toilet paper.

We were just there a couple of weeks ago in a 1 bedroom and the bed was great! Not as pillowtoppy as some hotels, but I'm ok with that!

Oh man!!! My sister is a cast member and DVC but we are using her cast member discount. I need lots of towels lol...they will be hearing from me daily!

I would say the beds are firm, but we did not have a problem sleeping comfortably. I was a little surprised at first at the firmness, but it was a total non-issue. I think the bigger concern would be blankets - the bed is topped with two sheets. We had an extra blanket in the closet and an extra blanket in the coffee table in the living room. But, if you think you'll be cold, ask for more blankets before you go to sleep the first night.

I've stayed on DVC points and on cash - you get daily maid service with a cash reservation. We definitely did not run out of towels or any supplies when on cash. When we stayed on DVC, I made one call to request more towels and shampoo and it was brought promptly.

Are you staying on DVC points? Towel change on day 4 is only for those staying on points. If someone staying on points needs more towels, you have to pay for it. However, if you are paying cash for your reservation (not staying on points), you will receive daily housekeeping and towels like a normal hotel stay even if staying in a DVC room.

We stayed in a DVC studio and don't recall the bed being exceptionally hard to us, but we didn't sleep that great. I attributed it to being a queen size bed. We had just come from a Marriott in Kauai where we had a very comfortable king bed.

Hello!! We are staying on cash in a 1 bedroom villa. Thank goodness as I need lots of towels (jk) lol.

Pool towels are unlimited, so you can bring those up if you want extras, too.

Slept like a rock in DVC studio. Note I didn't say slept ON a rock. Firm and comfy bed!

I'm wondering if all the bedding is the same...we sleep on a very firm mattress (there was really only one firmer one within the brand than what we bought) and we really thought the one at Aulani was super hard--not just firm, but hard. Wonder if they're partway through a bedding refurb? Does it get done in stages or all at once? Hope they phase out those surfing Mickey lamps soon too and dump those all on eBay cheap!!

Oh I really hope that did a refurb on the mattresses!

Hotels typically change out mattresses all at once. So, most likely they are all the same. Pretty much the only time they would replace a mattress outside of the regular rotation is due to some issue where the old one becomes unusable.
