How come no night show at Animal Kingdom?

Why isn't there a night show of some kind at Animal Kingdom, (like Wishes). Is it because it would disturb the animals? I think a night show is needed to give more of a reason to stay throughout the day. :confused3

I would imagine it would disturb the animals a lot. Can you image the reaction from the rhinos when they hear the loud fireworks!?

It is an "animal thing." Disney had tons of meetings to see if they could come up with an animal-friendly nighttime show -- was there something they could do utilizing fireflies, or nocturnal animals, or the constellations (the animal ones) in the sky, etc. Nothing really panned out. Although I LOVE the constellation idea!

I also read somewhere awhile back that they have to close "early" so as to take care of the animals.

I believe there are no fireworks at this park because it would disturb the animals. Actually with Wishes, Illuminations, and Fantsmic, I do not think WDW needs another fireworks show.

It's too bad the theater for the Festival of the Lion King isn't bigger...that would be a NEAT show to see at night...I can only imagine what they could do with the lighting! It would be a perfect show, as it isn't loud and wouldn't scare the animals.... But I'm dreaming...it's too 'intimate' of a show to have on a scale of Fantasmic or something...in other words, I know you can't have a theater large enough to hold the crowds, yet small enough to do the show justice!!!

animal kingdom doesn't usually stay open past 5 or 6 pm anyway so depending on the time of year it is, there may not be a "night" per say.

The Lion King Theatre is totally enclosed. It wouldn't look any different at nighttime than it does during the day. It's like any other theatre, and the lighting used in it is a full theatrical package.

Ak closes early because there are few guests there past 4 or 5. Once Everest and a few other things open they will add a few full service restaurants and later a night show. There are many ideas they have for AK night shows and most involve no pyro at all. The only concept using pyro was for it to be launched from the far end of the AK parking lot, similar to what the need on NYE 1999.

I always leave AK at 3 or 4 and feel like it's missing something. I can't wait until Everest opens and it would be cool to have a night show and walk the paths at night to see the animals.
