I think we tend to eat a little extra on vacation(or alot extra) and tend not to drink enough water - so we retain excess wgt - but once back OP - those pesky vaca lbs tend to drop right off!
I too lose wgt at a snails pace! But I have noticed that at the wgt I am currently I am in a smaller size than I was when I was 15lbs lighter - NO KIDDING! I have been exercising daily(occassionally missing a day) and workning out with light weights and on the trreadmill and total gym and I truly believe I have lost fat lbs and gained muscle lbs - which look nicer but weigh more? make any sense?

Anyways I have a way to go to goal but I no longer wish to be a certain wgt - I wish to be a certain size, and I have 3 more sizes to drop till goal. I guess what I am trying to say is look at all ways to see wgt loss - clothes, measurements and the scale.
